Google In Full-On Panic Mode, Attacks Rockstar Consortium
Oh, it's just beginning to heat up.
First Motorola attacked Apple over alleged IP infringements...that failed, turning the Motorola acquisition by Google into a $14 billion millstone around their necks.
Then, Apple sued Samsung over their IP infringements and recently won.
Then, the Rockstar Consortium (Apple is but one of several consortium partners) filed a series of seven patent infringement lawsuits against Google and Samsung (and several other infringers).
Most recently, Google filed their first response asking for a declaratory judgement to these looming planet-killer sized lawsuits. They should be worried....very worried.

FWIW Ericsson is already involved in a government investigation for using similar tactics.
EDIT: Charter has also filed suit against Rockstar. Among the allegations is that they've refused to fairly license certain SEP's, instead demanding exorbitant royalties on some while transferring others to yet another NPE (troll) for enforcement.

Geez . . . Now Rockstar has given birth to a a bunch of little "stars". NetStar, MobileStar, BocStar and the odd-girl out, Constellation. Probably a few others yet to be heard from. They've completely splintered the Nortel patent portfolio.
It'll all be hashed out in court for decades. No one ever said any of this would be quick, cheap or easily solved.
