mac book (black) battery not charging

Hi all, Came back from vacation to find my macbook on 46% battery life and its saying it's calculating the charge time remaining but it never does. 

its a new apple battery (43 cycles) . I ran it down to see if it would charging once it's drained but no such luck..  the charger is working since i can use it to charge my 2013 macbook pro. 

In the info window it says it's charging but in actuality its not doing a damn thing.  Any ideas?
