It would greatly increase my productivity! Eliminating the time I spend online reading about it and drooling over pictures, it would easily pay for its self.....eventually :)

Exactly how high is the demand for the Mac Pro? It would seem that Apple is simply taking too much time to build each one, as usual.

That implies that you know how long it should take. You don't.

Do we know for sure if Best Buy didn't just put them over by the popcorn poppers?

    That’d be just like them.

“Mac Pro… oh, you mean that new stylish heater! Yeah, it’s over by home appliances.”

I think in this particular case I can't imagine that Apple didn't assume the demand would be sky high or that they would need to pad the perception of demand.   I'm thinking this is their public beta test, and they're waiting until these have been in the wild for a month before they send out more.

I do think they sort of missed the boat by not making the two base versions a little further apart.  The high enders are going to get the 6-Core version anyway, no matter what the cost, but the Quad-Core seems targeted as an alternative for the same market.   Since they've made their laptops so thin and removed ports, many have discovered they need a more capable Thunderbolt dock than the $300 ones currently out to do the things they want to do they way they want to.  A Mac Mini with a current processor and 4 Thunderbolt and 4 USB3 ports would make it into a lot of homes, but this has never been the Mini's destiny.

There's quite a gap between the top Mac Mini and the Quad-Core Mac Pro.  There's definitely a place for a Mac Pro in the home, the way it used to be, just not this model yet.  I don't think. (?)

The latest mailing from Tekserve in NYC (a huge, legit Apple dealer but better known as the go-to place around here for decades for Apple repairs) says that they have the stock configurations of both models in stock right now (well, as of 1PM)
