I bought a iMac DV + at the end of April....two days before they extended the 90 day warrenty to 1 year for refurb's.
Next came birthday....turned 20, wow..
Took a trip back to Nebraska to see family,
Went to the Drum Corps show at ISU in Normal. Saw the Phantom Regiment. <- should have won...
then My friend and I installed grain dryers for his dad. Made a good chuck of change doing that, but that was used to pay for school
Went to the Drum Corps Midwest Championship NIU. Saw the Cavaliers win it, and saw Phantom Regiment (again) get second. This was the highlight of my summer. Go Phantom! (MacGuru)
Went back to nebraska again for a wedding. i got crazy at the dance and ended up dancing with a life size cardboard bud-light girl.
came back and taught the drum line at band camp. My little drumline homies...
started school. im only failing one class out of four....and thats because the professor is a waldo. half of the people have dropped out....
had a girlfriend for about a month. that ended quickly, she was a little too "attached" i couldn't stand it.
Stayed up almost 3 months straight designing a trio of buildings only to have the project go on hiatus, get scaled back, get scaled back, get scaled back, and now lies about 6 feet under.
Designed another project whose budget was cut in half, put on hiatus, might be coming back online.
Am currently competing for another larger building complex, having only 6 weeks to work, having the client move up the due date two weeks with two wweks to go (and a large holiday in the middle of it).
Finally got a CD-R drive.
Bought a new desk, shelves, few CDs, new raincoat.
I won't be getting a pay hike or a bonus this year.
Got new car insurance. (New Jersey sucks, especially for single white males under 30 even without so much as a parking ticket EVER.)

Belle: I didn't realize that you had moved East this summer. I've heard you refer to the bad timing of your more, but at least you're still alive. What part of town are you living and working in? Setting aside the WTC disaster, was your new job worth the move? (I assume it was, otherwise you wouldn't have gone all the way cross country.)
I haven't been to the City since August, but I'll be passing through on my way to Maine for Thanksgiving. I have a fear that my view of recent events will be radically altered when I see the devastation with my own eyes.
For me, nothing has really changed since AI went down. I'm still in law school, still wasting too much time on the 'Net and still wishing I was gainfully employed and productive instead of suffering through school, even though I'm doing it out of my own choice. At least I have a nice place to live and a lovely wife, dog and iBook to keep me (somewhat) sane.

I know, I shouldn't complain about the timing of my move. I knew a couple of people killed on September 11, but by association only. I just relocated to a more permanent apartment on the Upper East Side, and am wasting most of my time running a small production company with an old friend. I finished my project back West ahead of schedule, so decided to have a change of scenery for a while, and was offered an advisory position at ***'s research facility not a million miles from here.
It's been fun, but I'm thinking about heading for Portland, OR next summer. I've spent a few weeks out there over the last twelve months, and have come to love the place.

When do you graduate? Though I enjoyed my time at school, I'm pretty certain I don't ever want to go back. Have you thought about just how you'd like to be gainfully employed?

Worked in pub, enjoyed it far too much. Learned lots about beer-y kind of things.
