& trusted Bluetooth keeps your device unlocked when in proximity of other paired devices you own.... Though this feature will be obsolete with the 360 cox you'll never need to get your phone out of your pocket let alone unlock it anymore

It would appear the reason apple are taking so long with their rebuttal is because the bar keeps getting raised on them

Best just add another gimmick to & release another iPhone

The Motorola effort doesn't look too bad, but my bet is on e-ink being involved if there is an Apple wrist device on the way.

Colour e-ink is not seen in production yet.... but the greyscale e-ink requires power only when screen image needs changing, so would reduce power needed dramatically (with low power bluetooth).

Take the idea of an automatic wristwatch - and use human movement to power an electric generator to reduce or completely remove charging issues...

I've posted a pic of this watch before - it has lcd screen, but has an elctrical generating and storage system, and has decent surface available for screen(s)...

You don't appear to be aware of how Apple releases product to market and how much prep work they do.  As far as raising the bar, what bar are you talking about exactly?

I pretty much have bought into every product category with an Apple logo with the exception of the new Mac Pro. If Apple released a smart watch today with equivalent features offered today on Samsung, LG and Motorola and a beautiful enclose, I frankly would have no interest in buying it. I see no bar or anything compelling enough to spark my interest.  IMHO, these guys have no idea what they are doing in creating a compelling and disruptive new product category and they will be rewarded accordingly.  Its a fail.

let me know which wristwatch product you will be buying. Samsung, LG or Motorola.  I am thinking, none of these because they are not compelling enough to spend good money on for other than curiosity.

It was to my understanding he was addressing the issue of power consumption and suggesting some solutions to that problem.

I like how you’re fine with taking more time doing the exact same thing I do in five words, but my five aren’t okay. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />;)

thanks WS11.  I got that much. I was just wanting to step back, before we even got to this level of technical detail. I want to make sure we have a strong marketing case, before we even go about selecting components. What need is wristwatch product filling that a smart phone is not? What makes it disruptive, why do we even need it?

Precisely; 'shut up etc' is more polite than they deserve. It's a big, bad world out there.

I like that.       "shut up etc"   cute.    or the polite form   "shut up, etc. please and thank you"

If everything I mentioned is done then where the specs? Where are actual people demoing the actual device? Where is there even a price point considering the last time they did a round display it was a piece of shit and cost $2,000?

You see, this troll doesn't deserve the time of day, and yet you're treating him with kid sticks. You're not his Daddy. Best thing is to either ignore, fire back with a pithy remark or flag. He'll either have to have a conversion or get banned. Probably he'll crawl back to his swamp.

I agree...All I want really from Apple is a Heart Rate Monitor on my wrist. Designed by Apple with Apple's customary top-notch software.

As a distance trail runner, it is imperative I stay in a fat burning zone which is a certain heart rate (180-age). So right now, my running HR is 125BPM and my mile times are around 14'/mile (pretty slow).

But, 4 months ago my times were 18'/mile at the same HR.

In another 12-18 months, my HR will still be 125 but my times will be around 7'-9'/mile. All the while burning fat not sugar.

The human body (Liver, blood, muscles), has about 90 minutes of energy (Anaerobic). But even the fittest olympic athlete with <5% body fat has enough stored energy (fat) to run a 1,000 miles. All I want to run is 50 miles.

A little known fact, is that one of the keys to human success is we have the ability to outrun just about every animal on the planet! :)

Sorry, probably should post this on a different site! :)

    Best.

Not at all! A little circumstantiality can be interesting. I too am really hoping for an integrated heart rate monitor on Apple's wearable, as well as an O2 sat. I'm always curious how low it gets when I'm exercising; I assume there's probably an ideal range to be in for exercise. Also it'd be great for sleep analysis. FYI, ever since you mentioned the kale smoothies a while back I've been integrating them into my (almost) daily routine, and they're great! However, I do draw the line at measuring my poo.. I don't need to be that healthy! lol

For me... it isn't needed at all.

Mind you, my phone is 'dumb'... no bluetooth even. It is a phone. It's about the size of two fingers - the width and length and thickness.

Found a pic of it... can't believe the original battery still works

this as in what is being offered thus far as a "smartwatch" from any vendor.  I have seen nothing which makes me jump out of my chair and scream "yes, yes!!!! I need that!! and I need it now!!!"   Instead, all I get is "why???!!!??? why??!! and huh????"
