Anyone else hate every operating system known to mankind?

Perhaps it's just me.

But there are operating systems with features that I really like, enough to make me think "Wow, this is not so bad after all, and I might just like this OS"

But then, there is always a few features that seem to exist for the sole purpose of pissing me off, and ruin the entire computing experience. Leaving me annoyed and utterly dissapointed in the OS.

Tolerate I can, but no operating system will ever get my love, it seems .

Unless you can code your own Perfect OS.. no one is ever 100% happy.

I'm sorry, but how could you hate the NewtonOS?

I agree It seems a sad state of affairs, I think the PC industry is in such a state of shaft your competitor before they shaft you that things will only get worse. Of course M$ would like you to believe that if they had 100% of the market with their propriety 'stolen and modified'standards then everything would be wonderful. I don't subscribe to this. Their new ad- suddenly everything clicks is simply an admission that for the last 8 years all their OS's have been a POS. And no doubt when XP2 ships they'll tell us how XP really was bullsht as well

I only ever wanted OSX to have the OS9 workflow and GUI. I don't like transparency, shadows, dock etc. It only serves to slow down the high-end CPU intensive applications I use.

And Linux? Well I tried and tried to install it once, enough said?

nope. I love BeOS. Just sucks it won't be developed any longer.

OS X is getting better but is no where near the revolution I had hoped Apple would have the balls to do.

I think after a few years or whenever almost every app is for OS X I might totally love the OS.

Honestly, how different would things be if Apple bought BeOS instead of NeXT?

No, you're not alone. But as long as the three Furies Brittle Screen, Keyboard and Mouse dominate computer design, little will change. We'll see nothing but variations and refinements on MacOS 1.0.

It would be interesting to see what would happen to MicroSloth if they really did have 100% of the marketshare and there was no one left for them to steal their "innovations" from. Would they start thinking on their own, or would they just fizzle and die?

But if you want to talk about crappy OSes, how about the one our brains run? I mean, come one! Inconsistent, unreliable memory access, no custommization, zero upgradeability (thus far), and no way to recover from a power loss! I must admit, it has a great screensaver though.

Hopefully either BlueOS or OpenBeOS will go somewhere. I would love BeOS had it a chance to be refined.

that's why OpenBeOS and BlueOS have been formed

I hate every current OS too.

Nothing's good enough. NeXTSTEP in its pure, undistilled form, was damn good.

    Same with BeOS.

However, as NS has been butchered and had all the crap in the world tacked onto it, and BeOS is all but dead... one can only hope.

I'd love/kill to run pure NS or OPENSTEP on my Ti.
