I'm sorry but THIS TIME, touch ID is indeed snappier, and I'm sure I'm not dreaming it. It was super fast before, but now I don't even need to leave my finger on it for a quarter second. I should make a video to show how fast it is!
Next time, save yourself the hassle of replacing the phone, and just do a Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. This fixes 95% of ills suffered after an iOS update if they occur
did the above reset thing 3 times, restore from backup 2 times, turned off everything as per several "genius" blogs, two apple reps instructions, was told to turn off "find my iPhone" which i didn't like to do--but did anyway. 3 calls and all this my wife wanted a functioning phone. third call to apple they pulled the trigger
I had the problem of a broken Touch ID after upgrading to iOS 7.1. I could only hope that Apple soon fixes it through a software update. And they did. iOS 7.1.1 update has made the Touch ID work as a charm again! So thanks Apple! And, though early to say, battery life seems to be longer than before.

"Sometimes can't answer phone calls from Lock screen. Not sure if it's the OS where Slide to Unlock doesn't."
I have had this happen so many times over the years and it never gets fixed. Unbelievable.
OTA is only 30MB !
I know, but that was not my point:
1 - why are iTunes-based updates always full downloads?
2 - why are transfer rates so slow on iTunes compared to OTA?
1 - why are iTunes-based updates always full downloads?
Because iTunes can’t delta update.
Haven’t been in my experience.
