Apple Store just grew a sidebar

When did this happen?

The new sidebar makes it more obvious to shoppers that Apple sells much more than computers and Apple branded software now.

Of course, Apple also needs easy access to a slew of Apple branded digital devices.

Dunno. I checked it out just now. Well, it does offer the consumer more options/choices.

Kinda of crowded though. I have my browser set around 800 X 600 and some of the info on the right is overlapping.

I saw it too. They seem to be following the retail store formats.

Is it just me or should Apple get anward for the BEST online store? it's just so DAMNED easy to get around there... Amazon confused my brother... and he's web savvy. Apple has some DAMN good web UI guys.

Yea, I don't know if I like it. it doesn't really match the middle portion or the right portion of the store.

First, the iPod banner ad is now out of place...two many separate boxes.

Second, the middle portion with the product matrix is now way too big. They need to shrink that down.

Third, they have lines everywhere, some are continuous, some are not connected, some are thicker and anti-aliased. It all looks thrown together. The middle portion looks too flat now that both the sidebars have a bit of depth.

Fourth, the search box should be on top.

MacGuru: It's pretty easy to have a nice store site when you have less than a dozen products.

I don't like it, it's starting to look like most of the other store sites out there. And what's this category: "Lifestyle".

That tells me absolutely nothing about what it's selling: language kits & picture CDs... mmmkay. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

    I like it.

FWIW I think Amazon is very easy to navigate, but I buy all my DVDs off of there so maybe I am just used to it.

    Fewer than a dozen products?

You may want to get your head checked.

Eugene, I meant the pre-bazaar Apple store site, back when it had very little to offer but what it had to offer was super easy-to-find. Right now it's much like other computer store websites, but cooler looking.

COOL! I like this new sidebar a lot! It adds a lot more visibility to their third-party product offerings.

More crowded? Yes. But it looks like there is still some fit & finish to do on it.
