Apple intros new ischool service in 5 days?
OK, so they dont think we can crack it, huh? I have seen mobile phones, G5-G7, portables, wireless. It's beyond this?
I havent seen anything about a service yet on the messageboards. I think they will enhance the iTools-section to a bigger more integrative service package that isnt usable to the full unless you have a Mac. I dont mean that it will be the same as iTools, just that it will integrate iTools in a much bigger system.
A service that Apple could provide in cooperation with the media-society, like AOL. Like some kind of media distibution network. Microsoft has their network with the media. Why shouldnt Apple have theirs, only a lot better? With a lot more helpful options,
This service could be connected to some media device that can be used to convert media types from different sources, like VCR, TV, old LP:s.
the service can be used from anywhere, but only if you have bought a device with apple. Maybe as a USB device that make a PC to a MAC!

I remember a couple of years ago, maybe it was Forbes or NewsWeek, did an article on Jobs and the iTools stuff was mentioned. It was one of those day-in-the-life things, I think - only it was pre-release - before the keynote where Steve intro'd itools.
The story had employees showing Jobs iTool tools for Real Estate, Groceries, and other services that do not now exist. I assumed they were killed BEFORE iTools were created... but:
What if they were only put away until later as part of a major Mac OS X Distributed Objects/Web Objects project that would not come to fruition until say 2002?
BTW Distributed Objects are frameworks or parts of frameworks in OS X Cocoa language (ObjC) that allow multiple computers to perform related tasks across LANs and WANs, even the Internet. Sort of like having your own Distributed Computing center, built in to the OS.
I think these can be threaded across multiple systems so that Applications which use them can simply hand off work to other allowed machines as THEY need to. Maya can't render this job and let you build a new one? ok, Maya hands off the rendering to a G5 across the hall while you work on your new job. AND that G5 can hand off work too.
Hmm. Scary, huh?

The last piece of this puzzle is OS X, Apple's new operating system. Based on Unix, OS X has supercharged Internet and networking capabilities. It could be the thread that ties together all the other pieces of Jobs's plan.
