Is Amazon now the Apple Maps of streaming music services?  Give it time, it's a new product, etc, etc.

    HA!

Actually got it to work. signed out and back in to the site on my Mac. fiddled with some links on the Amazon Music web page, then deleted the app from my iPhone, redownloaded, signed out, back in, refreshed, and finally got there.

I wonder if anyone will create a Roku channel for this service or perhaps apps for Smart TV's & even Apple TV?

It's actually been out since 2011.  Was previously called the Amazon Cloud Player.

Are you sure about that?  Maybe you should do research and discover how iTunes on Windows helped Apple and the iPod, and the rest is history.

In no way is this scenario like that at all. You’re right, though; it IS history. Meaning the situation has changed entirely.

It is free for Prime members, which means we do not have to pay an additional fee to use it.  It is an added benefit to being a Prime member.  If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to be an Amazon Prime member.

Cloud Player doesn't play what Amazon announced today. It only does what I have purchased from Amazon, and what I have locally.  If there's an update then it's not yet available though the app (I checked).

Amazon's site says that it is available for Macs (and Windows etc) but does not explain how.

[just went back and checked again]

Hhmm. Amazon auto-updated "Amazon Cloud Player" to "Amazon Music" even though I had not requested auto-updtae. Bad bad.

Only facetime and imessage will have a chance. Everything else would seem like a novelty app. I.E. apple is not own for maps Google is, apple is not know music streaming Pandora is, same thing for all of the other apps.
