    1) Are there still any concern trolls left saying they (and everyone they know) is refusing to update to iOS 7?

    2) I'd wager that remaining ?10% is from almost entirely from perfectly, but older devices that aren't able to be upgraded the 7th generation of iOS.

I'm happy with iOS 6 on my iPhone 5. Works great, just like the day I got it.

Really? You're so against the look of iOS 7 that you're foregoing all the new features that came with it?

The look isn't really all that different. It took me a couple of days to get used to it, and the new features are definitely worth it. The holdouts are a tiny minority, and soon they'll be even further left behind, when iOS 8 comes out.

Look at this damn mess. How many percent are on the latest 4.2, I can't make it out exactly from this chart, but it looks like 4 or 5 percent. How ridiculous.

This chart is at least one year old, because 2.x dropped to 15% and the latest release is KitKat 4.4.4 (see https://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/ ).

However, all the 4.x are quite similar because all the system apps (email, camera, gallery, browser, search, messaging, ...) are regularly update through the store, just like a normal app. Even from a developer point of view, all the 4.x are considered a group (minSDK=14 is the dev setting), so a fair comparison would be to group all the 4.x percentage.

KitKat is a .x release. If you look at version 4.x or higher, the adoption rate is pretty high at just over 85%.

That's true... but each .x release adds a bunch of APIs that the previous releases don't have.

Android 4.0 had a certain number of APIs and features... 4.1 added more... 4.2 added even more... and so on for 4.3... 4.4... etc.

You're right... 4.0-4.4 is on 85% of Android devices. But if there was some amazing new feature introduced specifically in 4.4... only 18% can use it.

Google announced 5,000 new or updated APIs in Android L. So you're gonna need Android L to take advantage of those 5,000 APIs.

And if it takes 2 years for a decent amount of consumers to have Android L.... developers are less likely to use those 5,000 APIs in their apps.

It might take until Android M or N before it's worth it to focus on the new features in Android L

That's a different beast altogether so I don't think their adoption rates can be really be measured the same way just as MS' Windows OS sales can't be measured against Mac HW sales.

Hi, I am probably one of those trolls that do not hail iOS7. Things under hood are great and iOS8 is fantastic but interface is horrid for me. And what it did with iPhone 4 is disaster. Waiting and waiting so many times to move on. Hope iOS 8 on 4s wont be that same experience.

I saw how people unfamiliar with iOS were not able to unlock iOS 7 screen something unthinkable on iOS 6. Several GUI tweaks and updates of iOS 7 speak for itself.

And not sure it is just iOS 7 problem, but I had to restore iPhone several times because iOS 7 can not simply restart iPhone that is filled up. It just fall in rebooting cycle. It is far from perfection.

As of statistic. If it should be really showing user preferences and usage patterns there have to be ability to easily switch back to iOS 6 and if it would show separately hw that support it and old hw that do not.

And last, I think Apple crippled platform by using half the needed RAM on iPhones from 3G and up 5 and small batteries that could not feed more RAM. Look ant pools what people want most. Better battery life and often more RAM to data of background apps were kept when you swith back to them and not reloaded.

I lost several unfinished emails triggered from other apps just because I moved from that app to other and back.

And you may not be surprised I am sitting in work in front of Dell C2D PC that cost me 200 USD with LCD and PC table  few years back running XP do everything I need. I would like to have mac here but it is not reasonable nor cost effective.

iPhone 4s & iPad 4G 128GB and happy being on iOS6 with both devices... that dip in iOS6 install base could be easily just shrinking overall share of iOS6 to total base as new devices come only with iOS7. In absolute figures iOS6 users didn't have any reason to move, no new features were added in iOS7, just bug and performance fixes. I'd be surprised if someone bothered to normalise those figures before releasing them - my guess is they didn't.

That being said, I'm waiting for iOS8 to arrive and then maybe jump ship, mostly due to Continuity, would love Airdrop too, but that won't work on iPhone 4s... but I despise flat UI from the bottom of my heart, I always liked Aqua-like interfaces. I agree that Forstall pushed the leather design too far, but I love the glass icon look and easy to spot buttons in apps.

One key reason is that the updates are free.

The obvious has been stated numerous times in this thread, but yeah, it is because major OS X updates are free. Microsoft has not figured out yet that consumers do not expect to pay $120-200 for upgrading their operating system anymore.

Well you can feel much better for yourself and not be a loser by doing something more constructive than trolling Internet forums.

No new features in OS 7?
Gosh you are ignorant of what iOS7 is about!
I'd say iOS 7 is worth upgrading to for the Control Centre and new Safari alone!

Here's the link about iOS7 so that you can clue up!

another internet troll besotted with his own righteousness that has nothing substantial to say, but badmouth people who happen to have a different opinion... let me look for that 'report to moderators' button, hope it's not in iOS7 style

Kind of interesting that there is never any surveys that show how unhappy people are that have upgraded to iOS 7, don't you think?
I actually just upgraded two of my mobile devices from iOS 6 to iOS 7 because some of the features in iOS 6 had been removed like FaceTime being one of them.
Most people I talk to are not happy with iOS 7 and regret ever upgrading to it.
I feel that I was basically forced into upgrading. I purchased my devices with iOS 6 on them. iOS 6 was optimized for those devices. IOS 7 isn't. Why should I be forced to upgrade to something I don't want and didn't pay for.
iOS 7 It's very buggy and slower in, out and navigating around applications. I personally don't care about graphics. I just want it to work quickly and smoothly. iOS 7 is a step backwards in my eyes. I work outside in the sun and having these bright fluorescent or pastel colors makes it very difficult to see especially on a white background, not to mention everything seems a little bit thinner and smaller.
I'm tired of being a guinea pig for Apple and that's why I am not an early adopter anymore. Currently on iOS 7.1 .2 and still the bugs have not been worked out. SMH.
Being an Apple fanboy for 17 years now, working on OS 8 OS 9 and now OS X, it seems that as Apple is growing in size and popularity the quality is not.

Continuity is new, Airdrop that actually works between Mac and iOS device is new.... but I'm happy with what I have. Why is it so difficult to comprehend that there are people who choose not to upgrade??

Because it’s 96% satisfaction. Kind of interesting that no other OS even comes close, don’t you think?

Thanks for the anecdote; it’s meaningless.

I feel that I was basically forced into upgrading.

    You feel incorrectly.

Why should I be forced to upgrade to something I don't want and didn't pay for.

You weren’t. Shut up and go away.

    Wrong.

    So... WHAT bugs?

Yes, shut up and go away.

I did choose not to upgrade. You can argue yourself to death but I didn't see anything in iOS7 that would add functionality to what I use my devices for.
