Old Apple

I was thinking when at MWSF they displayed the iMac though the years, I relized where is that "old" Apple. The company has evolved and now not one product has any color. Dont get me wrong the designs are great, but color was what set them appart. I personaly would like to see some more color in there products. Mabey it is just me, but I liked that about Apple. The colors to me repersented a youth, keep the one color systems to the pro line. The products that they have today look like they belong with a 40 year old in his way to work, not in a teenagers backpack. What are your feelings on the "new" Apple?

I like it. It looks slick and everything goes together. The old way if you had more then one iMac, they could clash... Now everything "fits" with each other. Much nicer, much more modern I'd say.

One color has to make things a ton easier/cheaper on the production end, too, doesn't it?

I think it's kinda cool that now that everyone is doing translucent colors Apple isn't. It's like saying "That was so 5 minutes ago."

I like where Apple is now. The white/silver look is really cool looking. The colors were cool when they were around, but then all digital stuff had colors, and it got old and boring. I don't agree with you that it looks too much like something that a 40 year old would have rather than a kid.

Right now, everything Apple has out hardware-wise is GORGEOUS: white, silver, glass, etc.

The best their lineup has looked in YEARS!

Professional and all, but still VERY sleek and cool and like nothing else out there. THAT'S what sets them apart.

The color thing was BEYOND tired, plus when every pencil sharpener and toothbrush manufacturer in the universe is cranking out see-through green and pink products, the spark and charm has gone out of it.

Apple started the trend...they get to end it. And as usual, everyone else (computer makers and otherwise) will soon follow.

By autumn, you'll see silver, glossy white and clear-accented computers and tech gadgets. Along with wastebaskets, lamps, CD towers, etc.

You heard it here first. Colors ARE so "five minutes ago". You simply just have to accept that and let go. It was a trend, a marketing tactic and a phase. It was cool as hell, of course. It made a statement. It caused a sensation.

But it served its purpose and played itself out. Just like leisure suits, hula hoops and Yugos...at some point, they outlive their purpose and it's time to move on.

I think once Apple hit the Flower Power & Dalmation iMacs they saw the end of "different" looking computers as a good marketing idea... I mean who here bought one of those iMacs?

The Apple design scheme is an evolved one from the color days. I personally like the newer designs and I think the # of new iBook, iPod, and iMac sales speak for themselves.

Well I know one person who's got a family member that has a Flower Power iMac. That's about it, though.

Maybe midnight blue would look good, but I'm kinda sick of graphite. It's old like the colors.

What saddens me more than the design is that the old apple made machines that did things PCs couldn't. They were synonomous with multimedia and creative applications and thus people bought them despite the extra cost over PCs.

sadly this is not the case with modern apple
