I just ordered the 14inch iBook, can you give me other impressions besides the 2inch void around the keyboard?
Can you take a pic of the new ontop of the old iBook to see real difference? Whats your impression otherwise?

I did already. But I have not developed the pics yet. ( I do not have a digital camera yet ) It is really ugly thogh!
I got the scoop on the power button way in the back. It is there beacuse apple dose not whant people to shut down there computers now that they have X. And there is NO, you herd me NO, reset button.
the "Books" in iPhoto are really awsome!! They are just butiffull!!
Good news. Omni makers of our favorit web browser is now selling OmniWeb 4.1 in a Box with a OS X style coffe table manual for $25 (they are also selling Omni Grpahe for the same price). And I am now a proud owner! They were selling so many they were sold out my mid day today! Also some news out of Omni. Starting monday all Pro end Macs ship with the full version of both OmniGrapher and OmniOutliner!! But not Omni Web .
I'm sorry to say macworld flat out sucked this year. Where's Palm? Where's handspring? Where's FujiFilm? Where's Kodak? Where's 3COM?
The answer: CES.
Apple's not at fault this time. Macworld is a victim of the economy, and exhibitors are really getting very choosy about which expos they can afford to go to.
Some photos of the iBook at the bottom. In IE for OS X, I can't get he slideshow to show the photos ate full-size...they should be 600x480...and they look bad scaled.
Try asking what plans Apple has for 2002 - lots of new hardware, software or simply promoting the platform by showing users how simple it is to use. Also I heared that OSX still isn't quite ready for prime time in print graphic design - mainly because of drivers and some other software issues - when is Apple expecting OS X to really be on par with 9?
There are 5 ports when you consider the keyboard. Stop whining, you don't complain about desktop machines that only have 2+2, so why start now. Nobody ever said 5 open ports after the keyboard and mouse. Geez

No one is "whining" and complaining. When Jobs says 5 that's crap. You have to at least use one to get the other two. So that's 4. Then plug the mouse in and you only have three. 4 or 3 is not 5. Do the math.

Don't be ridiculous. Because two of the ports must be used, that doesn't mean those two cease to exist! That's what's advertised. Just because it may have been misleading doesn't mean it was untrue.
God Eugene that is BUTT ugly... Apple could have done a LOT better job. That looks more like the large mongoloid brother no one wants to talk about. I'm embarrased by that thing. That doesn't deserve the name iBook.
So you're saying that if a PC shipped with 2 USB ports on the motherboard and included a USB keyboard and a USB mouse, the specifications should say "Includes zero USB ports"??
Saying that a machine has a total of 5 ports does not mean that no matter what you plug in, there will still be 5 ports open. Most people add up the number of things they KNOW they'll have to plug in (in this case, at least a mouse and keyboard) and subtract that from the number of total ports, and arrive at the number of ports they'll have left. This is not a hard concept! As any 9 year old who has never heard of a Mac computer, "If you have 5 apples and use up 2 apples, how many do you have left?" and they'd know it was three. And if you asked them again, "So did you start with three then, or did you start with five?" anybody with an IQ over 60 would recognize that you started with five and used two up.
I can't believe people are even arguing about this!
It sucks that people can't do simple math. 5 is 5 that you can use. Try to plug 5, i don't know, mouses into the new iMac. Two of them wont work. Why? Becaues the keyboard wont be plugged in.
If the iMac had 5 USB ports on the back of the base, and ZERO ports on the keyboard, then you would say the iMac has 5 USB ports (even though you know you're going to have to plug the keyboard and mouse into two of them). Start with five, end up with three. Sound familiar?
There are 3 USB ports. That's how many there are on the iMac when you count them. The PowerMac has 2 USB ports. You don't say it has 4 just because the keyboard acts as a USB hub. Does the PowerBook have 4 ports then? No. Just ignore the marketing BS and count. There are 3 USB ports.

you can still plug in another keyboard...
The way I see it, there are 5 ports, 2 are used by Apple peripherals.
The PC I have at work has a USB keyboard that doesn't act as a hub, for example.

Man you people are dumb. You start with three. You use one and get two. That's 4. 3-1+2=4. 4!=5

it's hopeless dealing with these people sometimes
This applies to the USB crap only of course. Thanks for the info Mike.
I read all this USB shit, and just had to post that image.
We all know how many USB ports there are, we all know what we want to plug into our Macs... do we really have to argue just how we should word this?
****, even I have better things to do with my time today. (and I don't have anything to do today AT ALL)

I'm going back to the store I bought this at. They lied and said this POS had 2 USB ports. ****ing crooks.
