I wonder if such a merger would bring Elon Musk on board with Apple, as a director, board member, major stockholder, and/or whatever. That would make Musk a candidate to become CEO for when Cook is ready to retire. Musk would be the most Steve Jobs-like candidate for CEO that I could think of...
You make a Good Point, imagine this: come September Tim Cook holds his usual presentation praising the new iPhone, iPads and introducing the iWatch and just before the end we get the long missed "And one more thing", inviting Elon Musk to the stage to announce the merger...baam
