I'm very like you in many respects!

I agree with all you say. I do appreciate your likes, too. Believe it or not, even when mstone and I were at each other's throats, I was still giving him the odd like.

I'm afraid that sometimes it's fun to goad people, and you're such a good person to goad! But I should try to resist.

So you you see.. we're getting somewhere by simply being forthright and honest about our intentions. To be honest, I don't find that kind of sarcastic and often times humorous discourse offensive, and secretly chuckle to myself when cleverly used. However................... there is a fine line longer than which I typed, when goading and unnecessary provocation can be considered... even if it is misinterpreted... as trolling.

Now that I know better that you're just having some fun... I'll probably continue chuckling at most, and shaking my head at others, and let the powers that be here decide whether it's offensive or thread-killing or not.

As I mentioned in a different reply, there was definitely a "positive" to be taken from your "goading"... in that we all got to know a little bit more about those that frequent these threads here. And now we know a little bit more about you too... which is good. Civil discourse working it's magic :)
Your phrase 'deserve to be happy,' I just find so broad as to be meaningless. Who can say what any of us deserve? Our Creator alone, dare I say it. ????

"You deserve to be happy... don't you?"... a rhetorical question that only the person it was asked of can answer. I nor anyone else can determine that. We can debate the merits if and once he/she answers publicly... but even then, it would take too long to digest a person's entire history to know if his or our opinion of the answer is justified.

I suppose it would have better left "un-asked".... and <meekly bowing head in shame>... I was also guilty of "goading". So it does seem we are more alike every post... :p

PS. I would like to postscript my posts with the Countdown to Apple 3.0. Anyone disagree?

Glad to see that you appreciate being goaded.

    In that light…

I guess the main difference between us is that I want to convert you to living a good life (ie become a Christian) and you want to bop me on the nose for doing so. That's okay; I forgive you. You're only human! ????

It wasn't available when I bought my current iMac, and I didn't know how great an arm was at that time anyways, so I wouldn't have gotten one, probably.  I discovered the arm after the arrival of the nMP, which I wanted to provide a small screen for.  Along the way I also changed out my desk and now have less room than before (down from 80 x 150 cm to 65 x 130).  With the iMac sitting atop two bags of A4 paper taking up a lot of space, yeah, now I want a VESA mounted iMac.

Aha, i see. Well, I hope you can get a good price for your current one so this upgrade won't cost you an arm and a leg.

    LOL

The current one is a good machine, so a replacement would have to be a pretty nice update to warrant the cost.

That would be assuming that I am not a spiritual person, and you not taking seriously into consideration that I possibly worship an ethos and (quasi) religion that is far more forgiving and less violently persuasive as yours is.

Considering your and your kind's propensity to sermonize and "convert" at all costs those souls that may not need converting, for them (according to your beliefs) to be considered a good, giving and conscientious human being in order to attain... and worthy of... eternal happiness, bliss, peace, and serenity.

Whether it's here on this planet... or an entirely different "dimension"*** we may find ourselves in the future... we may surely meet again if we're both "good people", regardless of our different beliefs in how best to get there.

Just to add a bit of background to my personal (AKA not the right way for everyone) philosophy, my theory is born from a youth full of nuns, priests, Catholic schooling, catechism at a young age... and a (still) very devout and religious father. My youthful rebellious nature, questioning of authority, and literal understanding of the Bible to seek the truth and wisdom (reading for a start)... led me later on in life on a different path. Most of all I question to this day, why I was born into and exposed to the "true" religion, while others half way around the world had to work at it from a different cultural birth; or wait for someone such as yourself to come along and enlighten them. What "if" they are never exposed to the "true" path to "heaven", or the teachings of Jesus? Where do they end up? Instinct tells me it can't possibly be purgatory or hell, or how could you ever consider your god just?

Anyway... enough of "that" topic! Suffice it to say that you're wasting your time on a well-read nut-case and far too delusional to crack... :smokey:

*** Heads up to TS... since I'm still unclear whether I want to visit his "dimension" our not, or whether I'm already there and should be looking for a way out?! But sounds cool!

Yes, there are certainly considerations made for these situations. I can probably find citations in the relevant scripture...

If you like the USA, like first world standards of living, and would like to be able to visit anywhere on Earth safely, without a passport, and while retaining said standards of living, join me in my quest for a world united under the stars and stripes.

That's very understandable. Just thinking about the iMac I don't see anything revolutionary happening. Speed increase is all I can imagine, but hope for all iMac buyers I am completely off and they come up with something that will be all so obvious...once it is shown to me.

    Hmm, that sounds awfully...confined.

Suit yourself, but I’d love to be able to walk through Mecca without being killed or the Indonesian rainforest knowing that even if I get yellow fever a hospital that can cure me is only a 10 minute helicopter ride away.

I'd certainly be interested if you found those conditional statements or footnotes, because I don't recall any according to my Catholic upbringing. And if that is true, then why such a fervent need to convert souls? Why not leave it to those "other considerations" and god to sort it out?

Also, why do I have the funny feeling that it is some other place other than heaven? Which would put your god in the awkward position of being a segregationist, based on whether a soul standing before him didn't agree with, or follow a missionaries teachings... but was as good of a person as anyone else walking through those pearly gates we've heard about.

I'm just.... woah... ?!? If anyone else stated that... I would think they're "goading" me.... but I'm taking you seriously.

If you drop the "flag waving" part, and your on a quest for peace and prosperity for the entire world... OK and I'm all for it. However, I assume you meant what you wrote and chose your words carefully, and by wrapping up that whole package rather tidily in "stars and stripes"... you're ringing a Nationalist danger bell in my head.

I can't abide or agree with that part of your "dimension". No apologies, and I won't ever be joining you in that part of your journey in this lifetime... or any other metaphysical one.

I see. That I get. It was merely the Stars and Stripes that made me believe you wanted 'everything to be American'. That made me write 'confined'. I think ThePixelDoc got a similar feeling from that as well.

But please, let's leave it at this, as it would be a crying shame if we were to engage on a long and winding discussion that'll end up being erased from all servers after moderation, like in that other thread. (nothing wrong with doing that, mods, BTW)

    Goodnight everyone!

Well, I do. Republican government, equal states, belief in the American economic dream, etc. But if you’re thinking I’d want everything Americanized (or multiculturalized), that couldn’t be further from the truth. A global America would celebrate the same diversity seen in the OTL one–the south is the south, New England’s New England, and southern India would be southern India. Just all the US, all free, and all equal.

This is a discussion that belongs in another thread and will likely lead to a heated debate.

I was going to say "if you can afford it" but then I remembered that you all have guns, so you could probably arrange what you need without money...

    ;)

I see that my instincts are still tack sharp. Not going to go beyond that statement.

Note: I personally don't agree with the deletion of threads. Closing off further comments is certainly OK, but it is a record of opinion that can be accessed to find out more about a forum member. If the opinions shared at the time were embarrassing at a later date, maybe it will cause people to think twice next time? Naw. Knee-jerk spontaneity built the internet + a whole lot of porn.
