I think when you have multiple millions sold, and over 2 million hits on the YouTube bending video, and it being breathlessly reported by every news and tech site out there and you only have 9 reporting it, you can be pretty safe in saying its an exceedingly rare occurrence. And they're replacing the few that have. What could you possibly have to still bitch about?
I don't think most people understand how the this Internet thingy works... It was ONE freaken tweet that every news site and blog reported. Then some asshole on YouTube demoed with his hands no less - because that's what we do with our phones! Then THAT got regurgitated all over the web as well. 1,000 articles does not equal a 1,000 reported problems to Apple.
The actual bending that has occurred is so negligible, someone had to flip the phone screen side down on a "flat" surface just to see that it actually bent a teensy tiny bit.
But so be it. Let people complain... they can as usual play arm-chair quarterback while the rest of us get to play in the game and use these freaken awesome devices.
Love how multiple threads on the Apple and MacRumor forums magically turns into only 9 confirmed cases. Really? So you're saying it's all a consipiracy, and these people are all a bunch of lying fandroids? Ok.
They can only provide the data they have. The photos some people have posted have pretty minor bends in them that they could live with them. Most of the discussion threads are just discussion about the issue and not more cases.
Apple should start advertising this way. Just promote something that could potentially spell doom for Apple and get Windows and Android users all excited and talking about Apple, not realising they're talking about Apple and ignoring whatever Android phone manufacturer's profits are going down the drain.
Apple's iPhone 6 just got multiple days of mentions across loads of news outlets all across the world, nobody will even know what a Note 4 or Galaxy Alpha is nor will they care.
Another slice to account for the amateur experts ('What's wrong with Apple??? Why did the design a phone without carrying out one, single stress test on it??) whose knowledge of stress testing was gained on their own, in a dark bathroom.
Sooner or later, we're going to have to assume that the wealthiest company in the world with over 50,000 employees and hundreds of millions of shipped products that consistently top consumer satisfaction surveys has some experts that actually do test products before launching them. Still, the antenna issue showed that despite all the equipment they tested it with, they allowed it to go ahead with the flaw. Their software rollouts get some testing with beta versions and developer testing but issues still crop up after rollout. There's been a few video card defects that they couldn't easily anticipate. They at least deserve the expectation that they've done everything they could to ensure product quality until proven otherwise, they've earned that.
Oh... I don't give a shit about the phablet market, darling... I just find it funny that people who rail about Samsung's numbers being false then use Samsung's numbers to bolster one their arguments
It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one that has noticed the hypocrisy in that.
Sooner or later, we're going to have to assume that the wealthiest company in the world with over 50,000 employees and hundreds of millions of shipped products that consistently top consumer satisfaction surveys has some experts that actually do test products before launching them.
Except when they don't like yesterday's software update.
I think that most iPhone buyers cherish their iPhones like a piece of jewelry and go to get measure to protect them. Anyone intentionally bending their phone on a YouTube video probably didn't pay for it themselves. They are most likely being paid to bend it.
Take off a fair whack to account for the Internet echo chamber
A little bit more to account for ordinary trolls
Another smidgen to account for the 'concern trolls' ('Twenty six million views of a bloke bursting an artery bending a phone! I hope Apple is doom ... No .... I mean, if Apple think that folk are going to forget about this as soon as Kim Kardashian posts pictures of her ... Oh hang on .... 40 million views for Kim's tush)
Another wedge for people who just get swept along by the sheer excitement of the whole thing.
Another slice to account for the amateur experts ('What's wrong with Apple??? Why did the design a phone without carrying out one, single stress test on it??) whose knowledge of stress testing was gained on their own, in a dark bathroom.
Total number of complaints:
Nine.
... and my local news is just picking up on the story. Lazy lazy lazy reporting.
... with absolutely no updates re: 9 complainants.
Maybe the world isn't ready for phablets. I think that most of the people complaining about bent iPhone 6 Plus are the ones that moved from a regular sized phone.
Every phone bends when force is applied. We have too many first world problems. Please just sell your bent iPhone and donate the money to charity.

This is absolutely correct, IMO. This has paid sliming written all over it. No honest barbarian could stoop that low.
Does anyone know who this guy is and where he lives? He seriously needs to be debriefed.

I wouldn't want to generalize from what happens in America. There are places in the world that take better care of their objects. Others are just as bad, of course.
The problem is the iPhone 6 is a bit too small and the Plus is a bit too big.
When my Plus first arrived, I had initial doubts about its size. I even went to the local Apple Store to compare it to the iPhone 6, and decided the 4.7 was too small for my needs.
Over the last few days, I've come to thoroughly enjoy the larger model. It fits into most of my pants pockets, the battery life is exceptional, and the camera is beyond exceptional.
Apple on Thursday responded to the the flood of criticism leveled at the supposed ease with which the jumbo-sized iPhone 6 Plus bends during normal use, saying that just nine customers have complained about such an issue, while fashion-conscious consumers have once again proven that Apple can't please everyone.
"With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare," a member of Apple's media relations team told the Wall Street Journal. It now seems that more iPhone 6 Plus units were bent by YouTubers taking advantage of the media kerfuffle than were bent by actual consumers.
Similar issues befell Apple's iPhone 5, though the public's reaction was not nearly so intense. That handset was seen bending in approximately the same place as the iPhone 6 Plus -- near the volume buttons --?but it is likely that those devices, as with the bent iPhone 6 Plus units, were subject to unusually high strain forces.
At least one AppleCare representative is said to have told a concerned consumer that Apple Store employees would perform a "visual mechanical inspection" of the customer's bent iPhone 6 Plus to determine whether it is eligible for replacement under warranty. It is unclear what that inspection includes.
Apple's new, larger iPhones have also caused a stir in the world of fashion. According to the New York Times, fashionable consumers are finding the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus a tight fit.
Fashion designers and retailers have responded to the call of overstuffed pockets. Internet-based apparel company Bonobos said they would make adjustments.
"If none of our pants fit the iPhones, that would be a real problem," Bonobos design chief Dwight Fenton said. "You ignore them at your own peril."
One fashion source that spoke to AppleInsider said that at least one other famous company -- haute fashion house Rag and Bone -- would be "adjusting pocket size to compensate" for the larger devices.

Apple's new head of quality assurance.

9 people that have reported it. If you honestly think there are only 9 phones that bend, then you sir are the asshole.
If you honestly think more people accidentally bent the $750+ phone they bought just a few days ago and did not report, then you sir are an idiot.

Ahem
Read the shocking truth (well, shocking to someone who's a complete idiot) about bendy phones
and iPhone 5 too...no one made big deal...it's just that iPhone 6+ is a fierce device that scares all competitors so they tried to bash it.
So, ten million bent phones, apparently.

No one would cared if any of those problems that happened were related to other companies. Remember the Galaxy Tab bending-burning?
Exynos-laden Galaxy Tab S 8.4 can't take the heat, owner complains
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Exynos-laden-Galaxy-Tab-S-8.4-cant-take-the-heat-owner-complains_id58305
Bottom line:
If you buy into this "my phone bent all by itself" crap, go by a samsuck and shut up.
People should take better care of that $700+ computer that fits in a pocket. My 6+ isn't bent. I take care of my shit.
Every phone bends when force is applied. We have too many first world problems. Please just sell your bent iPhone and donate the money to charity.

You're right!! Time to buy more stock!!
Yes it sucks.
That's the burden of being KING OF THE MOUNTAIN. Everyone is trying to knock you down.
But don't worry. Apple will destroy all iPhone records the next 4 months.
Only thing you can do is TAKE ADVANTAGE of the manipulation.
I bought 200 more shares and $2k in options today.
Damn you're right!! Time to get more stock!! When they release it in China and add to that 10 million iPhones sold we will be raking in more cash.
Thanks.
Don't agree about the 5.5

It would weigh the same. If they use stronger thinner alloys then they lose the advantage of the stronger material
