Welcome to another episode of the recently famous gameshow: "SHIP MY iMAC". The gameshow where contestants try everything in their power to get their iMac shipped. our contestants today are Macintosh, thegelding, Anarchangel, and DerekUNCW.

Alex: Macintosh, we'll start with you. What will you do to get your iMac shipped.

Macintosh: hmmmm, alex. I think I'll take call the Apple store everyday for 500.

Alex: Ooooo, I'm sorry Macintosh, it seems you have an education order and therefore Apple has moved you to the back of the list. Anarcangel, you're next.

Anarchangel: Well Alex, I've devised a devious plan. I'm gonna order and ipod and since I know they have ipods, they'll have to ship the whole order out right away.

Alex: Anarchy, I hate to tell you this, but you're plan has backfired. Not only has your order status been permanently placed on partialy shipped, you also have a brand new ipod and nothing to do with it. DerekUNCW, you're up.

DerekUNCW: Alex, I think I'm going to continue to choose what I've been choosing. Is the correct answer: Check my online webstatus 18 time per day?

Alex: I'm sorry Derek, all your obsession has netted you is 3 completely wasted weeks of your life. Thanks for trying. Thegelding, you're our last chance. What do you have for us?

Thegelding: umm, Alex, my iMac shipped on monday. Its on a truck to my house right now.

Alex: What, that can't be. No one who wants an iMac actually gets one. Oh well, I guess we can't screw everyone. Until next week, I'm Alex saying to all you "Just Give Up." Have a goodnight everyone.

Announcer: This Episoder of "SHIP MY iMAC" is brought to you by Apple Computer, who reminds you "We don't give a Fu**!!!"

I don't know about mail-order iMacs, but my friend ordered his dual GHz tower from ClubMac on Tuesday and it shipped the same day. It arrived on Thursday. Mine is in a shipping container and it absolutely will not be delivered until Monday, one week after I placed the order.

Blah. ClubMac has a $100 instant rebate too, but I got an educational discount. I should have ordered from out of state, but I thought I'd get mine faster from Apple.

I'd just like to know how you guys can afford these dual GHz machines! Yikes - $4800 CDN for me... well, actually I can get one for $4540 CDN - but still...

I've been feeling very guilty about my intense processor envy. I don't even have my iMac yet, and I'm already thinking that a kick ass dual gigger would be such a great machine to have.

Alas, unlimited financial resources allude me, so I'll have to *settle* for the iMac.

Why would an education store order put me to the back of the line, its in order of order placement time.

Don't worry, it doesn't put you at the back of the line.

nope, mine was an education order and it was obviously one of the first ones shipped in the world (luckily it missed out on a trip to japan and a through search by customs in alaska...hell, some of these iMac will be better traveled than their owners)....mine went fairly quickly from Taiwan to Alaska to Memphis (maybe my computer spotted Elvis?) to Albuquerque to me....g

I would never buy a new heavily in demand Mac from a mail order or from Apple. Luckily, I have three Apple stores within 50 miles of me so I wouldnt have to.

    Does the AppleStores accept pre-orders?

I assume you're talking about the retail stores. They have a "contact me" button on all the desktops on all the Macs and you leave your info and they contact you when the product's in.

education store is traditionally slower. not sure why but they are. one reason why people who buy on release don't normally go through it.

did you send identification with your order placement? I didn't once and I needed to yet appe never thought it was needed to call me and tell me that and just let me wait until I called them about it

The Education store was not slower for me. They quoted 1-3 days and it shipped within that time. The normal store quoted the same. If I had selected next day shipping, I would have gotten my tower on Friday.
