I haven't tried these new phones out yet, but I've never been able to use the iPhone5 (or even the 4s) one-handed except (obviously) when holding it to my ear during a phone call.
When using the touch screen, I find I'm always holding it in one hand and typing with the other. I've never been able to type two-handed on these phones and I don't think I have especially large fingers. (I was able to type with two hands before the iPhone when I still had a Crackberry). So I think even though it's a larger phone, it's going to work for me exactly as the iPhone 5 worked, but we'll see... And if the size of the virtual keyboard has increased enough that I can type two-handed, that would be a huge advantage for me over the iPhone 4 or 5.
I think the large screen is going to be more of a benefit than the disadvantages of the larger size.
By the way, buy stock in companies that make cargo pants or other styles with large pockets.
The funny thing is with an average price of probably ( 0.75 * 350 + 0.27*550 + 0.03*$1000) = $442.5
You'd have 47 x 10 e 6 x 442.5 = about 28 Billion dollars in extra revenue during the first year... That's one hell of a "failure".
With probably 10 billion in profits!! Other companies could only wish for that kind of "failure".
I Myself don't expect 47 million watches sold. I think 18-22 million is closer to the mark.
This is still 12 Billion in revenu and more than 4 Billion in profit.
Apple's money pile will undoubtably come close to 250 Billion by the end of 2015. That's a ridiculous amount of money to have "lying around...

For me the perfect size for a pocketable phone is 3.5 inch. I have a 4s and the missus a 4. I found the aspect ratio of the 5/5c/5s to be just wrong.
When Apple released the 5 it was as though they did it to appease the critics calling for large iphones. I buy iphones from Apple stores off-contract. So they lost out on 4 sales from me in 2012 & 2013.
This year it appears they have gone further away from their principles still by only having the new tech in even larger size iphones.
That said, most use for iphones is not as phones. I have a 6 for the missus. Holding it in my hand I can't see a problem with one handed use and I have smaller than average hands for a bloke.
Further, I'm interested in a bigger iPhone due to my worsening eyesight. So I have ordered myself a 6+. I fully expect it to be too large as a carry around phone for me. The missus thinks she might like it for her though. We'll see.
My expectation is that I'll keep the 6+ for couch gaming and buy a 6 for me when out and about.
I fully expect Apple to release a 4inch 6c next year alongside a 6s and 6s+. Then I "might" down-size.

I may be one off but I like the edge feel of the 5 series. There is something satisfying and somehow firmer and more secure about feeling it my hand compared the the rounder edges of the 6 and the earlier iPhones that were also rounded. Not a deal breaker just saying.

I can understand that'. The trade off there is with the rounded sides I think you can reach more with your thumb.
Once I pu the phone in a Spigen case it got wider but I cou clamp it down better using the case as leverage. I Wouldn't doubt any case will help to do that.
Of course if you don't want a case then that doesn't help.
what will be laughable is the iPhone vs Samdung Galaxy numbers in the next few Quarters.
Now that Apple has large screens they will stomp Samdung into the ground.
In 2013 Samdung was a pretty close 2nd to Apple in premium phone units.

Similar here. The 6 Plus is out of the question and the 6 is still too large for my hands.
Especially when I am checking emails, messages or calling someone I always use my phone one handed with a similar "death grip". Impossible for me with the 6, as my hands are quite small. It felt so natural just getting a phone out of the pocket, check some stuff and put it back without the need of using two hands.
But I could adjust to general two hand usage if there is no other choice.
But the portruding camera is a absolute show stopper for me. This is unacceptable for me.
I never used cases on my phone. Why cover the nice grip and design in some cheap plastic or whatever? Never had a busted screen or large scratches on my phone and I carry it with keys in my front pocket always.
I understand that they needed to put in a better camera as ppl. use their phones for photography a lot. So they made a compromise here. I rarely use my phone for photos. If I take photos I carry my SLR anyway.
I like more screen estate of course. But even the 5S didn't feel right to me. The form factor is just wrong. It feels like it should have been a bit wider. Well bought it 'cause of the finger print scan I really like to unlock for one handed usage!
So the 6 is the natural evolution here. The 5 tried to provide more screen estate but still wanted to be a device that can be used easily with one hand. But it just felt wrong.
The 4S was the perfect device for me so far. But the rounded edges of the first iPhone still felt superior in my hands. Still the best design an iPhone ever offered. The 3G were a no go for me, to plasticky feeling for my taste.
So gimme a 4" iPhone, with rounded edges and all the stuff of the 6 (wouldn't mind the quality of the 6 Plus screen though). And make it a bit bigger so the camera does not portrude and I am buying one right away. Use the 0.7mm for a thicker battery or make the device heavier again. Today smartphones feel to light anyway for my taste.
Hoping with the 6S they bring some kind of a 6C, that will just be a smaller form factor for the 6, but still be a unibody device.
But as long as there is a portruding camera I will not upgrade. Absolute showstopper.
I can accept the "boxed" antenna band design, even though it's quite ugly. It has grown on me seeing iPhone 6 from friends (grey looks best, white's ok and gold with the bands is just ugly)
But the camera? Nah, wobbling on the table where it lies most of the time at work? Nah, absolute not acceptable. It would drive me crazy every time I touch it that it wobbles.

So my eyes are on the iPhone 7 then with the following hopes

- camera is flush to the device
- 4" size again.
So fingers crossed for an update next year or more likely an iPhone 7.

Wobbling on the table is unacceptable. It just drives me crazy. It is like one defective pixel on a screen that is constantly red. The display still works perfectly fine but this pixel drive you crazy as you always see it.
Remember the Seinfeld episode with the red ink dot on the cashmere sweater? Yep, that's the portruding camera....

Actually, most premium phone buyers bought a 4" phone over the last couple of years... before that, most premium phone buyers bought a 3.5" phone.
