Despite faster A8, higher pixel count of iPhone 6 Plus drives lower FPS benchmarks

I get the feeling that this isn't a problem that will really matter much or manifest to any significant degree during day-to-day use.

    Nothing to see here, really.

Looking forward to picking up an iPhone 6 (the right size for me) in around a month.

Personally I'm COMPLETELY fed up with hearing all the minuses with the iPhone 6 Plus This product is a COMPLETE and abysmal FAILURE, which has Steve Jobs rolling in his grave. He'd probably ram it down Tim Cook's throat! He'd never replace how thin a product is make it less durable.

No matter what the fanboys out there say the young man on Youtube ACTUALLY bent / broke an iPhone 6 Plus with his bare hands and it hurt a LOT OF FEELINGS, when the anger should be placed at Apple for creating GARBAGE!

This makes me think of the stupid girlfriend who beats up her boyfriend's other girlfriend he's cheating with, instead of going to the source of the problem.... HIM!

Quit bashing people who find out how horrible this device is, and help Apple come to grips with it's putting out garbage, and to put them back on the right track.
You're just putting dirt into Apple's grave, and they'll become the next Microsoft.

Oh... I hurt your feelings........ get over it, and quit helping this company go in the wrong direction.

Take note: Consumer reports, and Apple NEVER showed a test where the pressure on the phone was put on the weakest part of the structure, like the button area, because it will bend, and break.

Wow, aren't you the genius. What outstanding reading comprehension! The real story here is that the test for apps using Metal, which will allow apps to run much faster, has not been developed yet! This article only reviews data related to running without Metal. The real story will come out when this test is available. And any developer with any commen sense at all, especially those developing graphics intensive apps, will be using Metal. So take your moronic rants somewhere else, including the ridiculous bend farce.

I think the 'Android angle' on this one would only be positive for Android.

The same argument he is using to explain why the iPhone 6 plus will be slower than 5s in graphics applies to most all Android phones the 5s was pitted against.  The Note 3 tests and 5s comparisons that came in 'neck and neck' usually failed to point out that the iPhone was doing 1/3 of the work in the same amount of time.  Now that the iPhone 6 plus is clocking in slower, it apparantly has become a valid issue to raise.

I think most people that buy the 6 plus will be more than happy with the improvement in the screen and find it well worth the tradeoff in speed

No shit! What the **** do you think happens when you purposely set out to destroy something?

You probably also think you can test if a diamond is real or not by smashing it with a hammer. If the hammer shatters it's a real diamond, if the diamond shatters it much be cubic zirconia¡ Go on, give it a try.

Who cares what other people look like using their phone. The practical usability is the most important factor. Some people might use it with a BT earpiece, or use it for FaceTime or maybe they don't make many phone calls and just TXT. If you are off put by the phone because of how you imagine appearing when holding it to your ear, don't buy it, but other people might find it ideal for their needs.

I agree the 6+ is enormous. I finally had time to go to the Apple store yesterday to check them out. The 6+ is too big to fit in the front jeans pocket comfortably. I mean it fits, but barely, while standing. It definitely starts binding when sitting, not that there were any chairs to properly test that, but just simulating bending at the hip, it was obviously not ideal. The 4.7" phone fits in the pocket just fine so that's the one I'm going with.

I feel like it's more that Apple is willing to push the envelope sometimes with their first product in a new direction.  They were gutsy in removing first floppy and then optical drives from laptops and desktops, which moves could've been seen as bad decisions: "it's a step backwards!"  But I think Apple is willing to sacrifice a bit. to move things forward.  Keep in mind the VainGlory demo when thinking what the Plus is capable of, rather than just focusing on an abstract spec comparison.  I'm sure the frame rates will continue to improve with later versions, though, as you suggest.

It's amazing what you can do with a platform when it's stable. This really is a huge benefit Apple has over Android, because developers can drill down and optimize for a few specific platforms (though I'm not sure that they do). When I was a game developer, I remember being amazed at the progress on a given platform. PS2 games seemed absolutely amazing when it first game out, but five years later, the games were so much better, on the same hardware. It always took us one game (2 years)  to get our core engine worked out to smoke on a new platform.
