Bose paid the NFL for exclusive sponsorship. I think that is called capitalist, not communist.

I’m SO glad that you think this.

Consider me automatically signed up for every future threat you post regarding self-banning. I will win every single time because I’m better at making up fanciful garbage like this than you’ll ever be. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Thanks.  That covers 1 of the 2 claims.  (The more important of the 2 in my book)  :)

Wow, did you really just say that?

Samsung's profits have been in decline for a year while Apple's phablet has been on sale for about a month.  There's no conceivable way the one can be directly attributed to the other, outside pure, blind Apple fanboyism.

Been using Bing for a couple of years now. Results and layout are as good or better and every once in a while I get a $5 Amazon gift card.
So then being tracked wasn't the reason to ditch Google since you're OK with Bing/MS collecting and monetizing highly identifiable data, connected to your real name.

I think that was a piss poor decision on the part of Apple

This is a non factor since Bose sells through many, many other retail channels. As a consumer I buy what best serves my needs and not based on vendor and fanboy politics or ignorant stereotypes. I also have at least a half dozen pairs of very decent headphones/and in-ear monitors. I haven't found any single pair that does everything I need it to do for all possible listening scenarios when you take all things into consideration from noise suppression to sound leakage to portability to convenience to ambient noise.

I spent the last week traveling a total of about 30 hours brought my Bose QC15 on-ear and Bose 20i earbuds. Two of the legs involved Dash 8 prop job puddle jumpers. I used the 20i on one puddle jumper segment and the QC15 on the other puddle jumper segment.  I used the QC15 on the long hauls. When you wear headphones on a 9-10 hour stretch or test them against a Dash 8 you are doing much more than a Best Buy or Apple store 3-minute comparison test. All I can say is that I'd be ready for the rubber room if I didn't have these devices at my disposal. The QC15 and the 20i performed almost identically based on my brain subjectivity Dash 8 test. Not having to turn the volume up to 11 to hear the music means that you have a lot less mental fatigue over the course of these trips. I was only able to sleep for short periods decently well (in economy no less) only because of the noise cancellation properties of the Bose.

When I'm sitting in the comfort of my home maybe I don't need the noise cancellation and the Bose are not my first choice. However, I've found that the Bose are pretty adept at canceling out the inane TV programming my spouse likes to watch while I browse or read on the couch with my iPad. In my opinion headphones are one of the most personal and highly subjective items you can possibly purchase outside of perhaps eyeglasses. There is never anything that's "one size fits all" and if you are intensely committed to something that brings joy to your life you will probably have a small collection of products in a category that cover every possible scenario you encounter. Bose absolutely has some awesome products that cover some of the specific scenarios I've encountered. The fact that they can shut up a Dash 8 is borderline magical. As an engineer with an extensive background in acoustics I absolutely know how they do it, but I'm still amazed that they can pull off the whole package remarkably well for a decent price. Could they be cheaper? Yeah, but I don't mind investing in customer considerate products that deliver real value. I'll buy generic vitamins and medications and cheap gas so I can afford well engineered headphones. Your priorities may differ.

I have not tried the Beats yet but I will. If they fill a need that I have I will buy them. The style element is a non-issue with me. If you know any affordable headphones that beat the Bose products on noise cancellation please let me know and I will give them a try and add them to my inventory.

Remember, being removed by Apple is NOT COOL.

I would say at least 50% of the 25 million people who purchased the new iPhone 6 over the last month are hard core Apple fans - who hate Google, Samsung, and now probably even Bose. These are the well-heeled crowd, tech friendly, who probably are fine spending a bit extra to have the latest-greatest gadget. Probably the worst crowd that any tech/gadget company could find itself on the wrong side of!

Being banned by Apple may not be a big thing in terms of reaching the market - there are enough other options to reach the customer - but it definitely is a very big thing in terms of the image of the product.

To be very honest, I am not very comfortable with such actions - because it starts to create an environment where the "normal rules" don't apply to Apple. That is not good in the long run.

Yes, Bose had an exclusive contract with NFL, & now Bose is no longer in the Apple Stores. What happened in the middle, was that the NFL fined the player $10,000 for wearing the pink non-Bose headphones, which he was doing to support breast cancer. I don't know if Bose made pink headphones for the same cause. Do an internet search on "NFL breast cancer" & see the number of articles that show up, including one where the NFL kept a family waiting all day for a film crew to videotape their story, & NFL's crew failed to show. Bose got dumped from the Apple Store. Maybe Apple was trying to contract NFL for streaming on AppleTV. Based on the dynamics of this whole issue, Apple could, should, or would, dump the NFL, & forever ban it from AppleTV contracts.

I will take a different track.  Bose has always stood for quality, and Beats not so.  This is a loss in my opinion.  Apple and Bose both stood for top of the line.

I think this is a mistake for Apple.

Also, I have always purchased Bose speakers with Apple products for over 20 years.

Yeah I've been using Start Page for years instead of Google because I hated getting stuck in their stupid "data bubble". Also you used to be to able to eliminate pesky and annoying sites like say Wikipedia by adding "-" to your search like for example "Ebola - Wikipedia" but not any more.

Google was a good search engine back in the '90's when you could do a Boolean search and there wasn't much else other than dog pile, Jeeves, Yahoo etc and they weren't kissin' up to the NSA.

Apple could get search part done if they bought Yahoo and Flickr comes free.

I don't think any company can create a good search engine. You'll need solid info as the source, and websites aren't exactly setup lik a database. Text displayed as an images aren't tagged as (the same) text, so a search engine will skip that, and the inconsistency of all websites makes for poor search results.

Either that, or I'm just not good at searching. But when I search I have a difficult time finding the exact thing I want. Engine independent.

HTML5+CSS3 fixes this problem and you can do virtually anything an image or animated Flash element would have done.

It’s just a matter of finding developers who care at all enough at all to implement it. Which I don’t get. HOW long has it been since the standards started rolling out and we still see text rasterized into images?

Google - profits down 7%. Apple just needs to default search away from Google and their profits will drop 50%. That is litearlly one software update away

Bose - out of Apple stores

I'm not sure if you upgraded to the latest version of OSX, but you will see where you are encouraged to use "Spotlight" in Safari which can return a lot of search queries without using Google... No longer do the Google advertisers fill the top spots on your results.

Google's about to learn what John Wayne meant when he said it's harder when you're stupid. Meanwhile the clock is ticking out the last of Google's search patent's life.

Japanese manufactured goods once stood for tinny crap... then Chinese goods represented what crap stood for... Things change over time. Get used to it.

By suing Apple, Bose sure showed 'em. Heh heh heh... /s

Starts to create??? Did you just notice that Apple is different in most every way??? The "normal rules" haven't applied to Apple in a long long time... and it drives the competition nuts!

No one has ever won a grudge match with potential customers. Not to mention that most sports teams do like, and use, iPads where ever they can.
