What's that all about?

[quote] It has been noted that the tone in the forums has taken a general turn for the worse over the past few weeks. Let's all try to contain the negative vibes and keep this site free of puerile curtness. Du calme, as it were. <hr></blockquote>

What's this talking about?

I dont know, im new here so I couldnt show. I am an upbeat soul brother with a positive flair for rhyming nicely and keeping it fair. I get angry sometimes and go off on things, nothing personal just happens cause of my binge eatings.

Well I think part of it could be that everyone seems to be against Macintosh.

Huh. All the same, it seems like a strange thing to post unless things were getting really bad. I hadn't noticed anything weird.

BTW, is there another thread dedicated to discussing this? If so, I couldn't find it.

It hasn't been just about Macintosh, although that's one of the contributing factors. Other's have included heated discussion about the Mormon faith, a thread wondering who's over 21 here (started by me, actually) which got a bit out of hand, and a few other threads that have taken a turn for the worse (or just flat out started that way)

<a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=000638"; target="_blank">This thread</a>, started by Peacekeeper (the ever-lurking but hardly ever posting, self-proclaimed un-biased arbitrator of AI) addresses all this, and soon after that thread was created, the admins released a statement on the main page.

At the risk of inciting more ire, what's amazed me recently is that threads on stuff like Apple's new marketing campaign and QuickTime 6 have been almost ignored, but threads on Mormons and French Foreign Ministers run amok. Obviously in the big picture Macs aren't exactly what the universe revolves around, but, hey, it's a Mac site with a (mostly) Mac forum. Don't we have other outlets for some of this stuff?
