Indeed. It even destroys older Macbooks, Macbook Pros and Macbook Airs.

    That would be mine then...

Well, considering that all higher end ARM SoC's for Android are either 4 core, or 8, usually using all of the BIG and LITTLE cores, they have nothing to complain about.
Exactly! It'll be *hilarious*. And potentially slightly schizophrenic, lol.

I have this older black Macbook which I don't use anymore, but compared to this new iPad, it's a damn joke!<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

The score was about 2600 (macbook) VS 4477 (iPad).

You can always use it as a "media server". Or a doorstop.

Now I have to go and check the benchmarks for a mid 2011 MBA to see how bad it is...

In addition to that, it doesn't use "standard" USB cables, a parallel port, or a 5.25" floppy. Damn those hippies in Cupertino!

    That's insane.

Interesting that Apple was so conservative with their 40% CPU improvement statement, and didn't even mention that they added a core.

In some ways, it almost seems like a big FU from Apple marketing to the whole speeds-and-feeds crowd. Basically, we care so little about your spec-bullsh!t that we aren't even going to tout our own superiority using your own metrics.

    That's common with Apple.

    They regularly under-promise and over-deliver.

Yep, I'm getting it tomorrow. They apparently bumped up the delivery day by one day. I'm not going to complain about that.

I don't understand all of the celebration. You can't actually DO anything more with the current generation iPads that you couldn't do with the last. To make really good use of such horsepower, which you all say is tremendous, you need to allow for multitasking and more stuff in the background. Maybe let users customize their home screen with live widgets like Windows 8. Otherwise, it's just the same old iPad with the same apps as before. Bummer.

What else would you think I would do- sit on it to test if it bends?

Maybe you can't, but I can.

I notice a few people here and there saying that all of this extra power can not be used. Guess what. I think that all of those people are ignorant and unimaginative, and just because they don't fully use their iPads, that doesn't mean that other people don't.

I can name many apps that I use and have that would benefit greatly from increased power. I'm especially thinking about many of the audio apps that I use, which require vast CPU power.

I'm sure that people doing any sort of video tasks on their iPad wouldn't mind having much more power also.

There's also gaming of course! I'm not going to complain about games with much higher FPS and much better graphics and effects!

I must admit I'm always surprised, after reading your multitude of posts complaining about so many facets of Apple products, that you still consider buying them.

    What are you? A masochist?

I can have ten tabs open. Mostly, they are from threads I am in. I've got three open from AI, another two from ArsTechnica. Some from financial sites, etc. I'm not using them as bookmarks. I'm sure others use them for the same purposes.
A good developer can program a page to reload when it receives focus. This is why I say sometimes Safari is doing exactly what it is suppose to do when reloading a page. It is the page reloads that happen randomly and without reason, that are the cause of so much frustration.
But, and here's the thing about page refresh, when in a forum, you want the page to refresh when you reopen it. Most sites don't have push on forums, so if you use the cached page, you don't get the newest posts. So it would be; tap on page, then tap on page refresh. Never really bothered me one way or the other.

I'm sometimes left with the impression that "forums" software isn't the most elaborate web site programming.

Launching apps, browsing, editing photos is near instantaneous already on the 6 and 6+ (just tested it this afternoon side by side, so opening things is not going to test this beast one bit. Not much you can really do in a store to test firepower of even the phone, let alone this..... Monster.

Editing video (adding transitions real time) and layering effects for audio, video, could test it slightly more . Running a cad program, now we are starting to get somewhere ;-). Your not going to do all that in a store though. Right now, very few applications really tests the air 2. Its a real forward going machine.

Guess we should have stayed on the 486 DX100 computer then, it was a very decent machine running Windows 95. Lack of imagination will be your downfall...

The K1 has abysmal thermals compared to this chip and is a battery hog. Apple has really beaten down every Android tablet straight into the ground on every spec there is with this. Any business using anything but this will be deemed idiotic.
