Kinda strange that Apple Pay works with the watch without requiring a fingerprint. That presumably means that if somebody steals your watch and phone, they don't actually need to unlock your phone (or anything) to go on a major shopping spree, since all they would have to do is press the button on the watch to authorize payment. Am I missing something?

However, I think that the watch locks if you remove it from your wrist or something. Others will probably give us the right answer.
Apple Pay will only work with iPhone 5, 5c and 5s with the iIWatch when it comes out next year and for those that want to tell me I am wrong please do your research as it is posted on Apple's webpage.

Also is the speculation that the Apple Watch surface screen will support touchID directly.
Exactly how this will come together will be interesting. I pay for an all you can eat bus pass. I'd love to have that on my phone or watch via NFC. My employer has card locks too. I'd like to ditch that as well.

And I am more sorry then you that you Sir. cannot understand what you read, if you look at the chart where the Apple watch is it clearly says the following:

What a mess.
Apple Watch has sensors under it constantly touching your wrist.
apple could have a Touch ID sensor on the bottom constantly recording every detail of your wrist.
So when it's time to pay you just hold the watch close to the payment terminal and its done.
This is even faster than the current Apple Pay method.
If someone steals your watch Apple Pay is immediately disabled due to the drastic wrist change.
2 possible problems:
1. Hair. This is obviously minor but still something to think about.
And
2. Changing hands. Though I'm sure you can have Touch ID record both wrists.

Didn't you read the article? It will in companion with the apple watch but the others won't.

You are correct. Apple Pay requires the Secure Element which apparently resides on the NFC chip.
No NFC chip, no Apple Pay.
They work in conjunction with the Apple Watch.
