At the MAB (Michgan Association of Broadcasters) conferance, out of some 50 booths (not all had computers, obviously), only one had a Mac. Everybody else had WinNT systems. Even for Avid. I think pricing is the reason why.

    It ain't the prices.

Since this is quickly turning into a real thread, my comment above is meant to say that even with a cheap PC plus software and Avid or other hardware, an over-priced Mac running an under-priced Final Cut Pro, the Mac is competitive if not cheaper than the PC system.

Yeah a group of broadcasters in Michigan means nothing about the overall # of people using macs & Final Cut Pro.

My friend and his wife both work at (different) TV stations here in Portland, and even though these stations use plenty of high-end specialized (non-PC and non-Mac) hardware for processing and editing, they both also use plenty of Mac stuff. I know that in one station, FCP is in heavy, heavy use.
