good web hosting?

I was looking around to setup a website for a customer on a low budget. The lowest prices with most features I have seen is <a href="http://www.powweb.com"; target="_blank">www.powweb.com</a>

Does anyone else have suggestions? I would really need basics: some, even 20MB, space, no fancy scripts or stuff needed, just making simple html and pictures. Also, POP and/or Web mail is necessary.

For 7$ powweb seems hard to beat, but if there were even lower, would be good to know.

Thanks

What about doteasy.com? Free. No banners. I've had it for a year and a half. I am now leaving it because I need cgi and stuff, but I've had no problems.

i hear <a href="http://www.geocities.com"; target="_blank">Geocities</a> is a good buy. $10/month + $25 setup fee, 25megs, .com domain name, 5 emails addresses, and Yahoo! PageBuilder. my friend owns <a href="http://www.beardedaxe.com"; target="_blank">Beardedaxe.com</a>, an Age of Empires 2 fan site, and he says it works pretty well.

You could check out: <a href="http://www.webhostingtalk.com/"; target="_blank">http://www.webhostingtalk.com/</a>; you can post what you want for you server, all your specs and people will PM you with offers and what they can give you. It's a nice setup or you can just look around, you would be amazed what good deals you can find.

Hmm... if you're REALLY cheap, you could always just set up an iTools account for them. 20 megs of web hosting, and a mac.com email addy....

    Try <a href="http://www.ntchosting.com"; target="_blank">www.ntchosting.com</a>

I recently moved my comic site to there and their connection is FAST

For 5US you can get 99 emails and 400MB of storage.

It's not the cheapest but for the speed you can't complain

Wisesource is an excellent UNIX host. I use them exclusively for my clientelle. The sysadmin is awesome, I talk to him daily when I am doing web stuff. He is super helpfull.

If you are interested go to <a href="http://www.wisesource.com."; target="_blank">www.wisesource.com.</a> I think its $12US a month for PHP/SQL site with 250MB of space. If you sign on for a six month deal you get the first month free and you dont have to pay for a month, so its risk free really.

If you do try wisesource please mention <a href="http://www.interslicesolutions.com"; target="_blank">www.interslicesolutions.com</a> in your application as they are starting a referral system and it will save me a few buck$.

If you need more details send me a private message and I can help you out.

    hope thiss helps

i was thinking of getting a few domains. i'd probably upgrade to the $7.95 accounts for each domain

I wish I could tell you, but I don't use any and I don't remember how many are allowed. I only use e-mail forwarding. I would e-mail them and ask. I'm sure they would be helpful. I'm happy with them and their service.

This is the site I have hosted with them:

maybe this is my "you get what you pay for" side coming out, but why is everyone focused on the absolute cheapest solution? i gotta think there's a severe downside to any $3.95 per month plan...

i don't want the absolute cheapest but cheap. i'm buying several more domains and i can't afford $14.95 at hostway.com

i just noticed that www.ntchosting.com , you don't get your own FIXED IP address. is this a bad thing?

edit; er i guess it's called a STATIC IP address
