Cute commercial. Didn't see the entire thing because I had to be geeky and try to get the first post

Seemed like a person outside looking into a (Apple Store?) window at a new iMac. Making faces jumping around, with the iMac doing the same back at him.

I'm sure there will be 20 threads on it in a minute, and perhaps a Tivoed quicktime movie of it.

No, it was a filmed commercial. A guy walking down the street. An iMac in a store window. He notices it moving, then he starts imitating it, and then the man and the iMac get into a "can you do this?" thing. Basically showing the movements that the computer can do. Now they need to talk about how good a computer it is.

Edit: I just found a QT movie someone posted on Macrumors.

I wonder when Apple will post the ad to there site.

When <a href="http://www.AppleAds.com"; target="_blank">www.AppleAds.com</a> opens, it will be on top of all this stuff (New Apple Commercials, Apple Keynotes, etc).

That's the first ad from Apple I've actually liked since their Tank/Super-Computer ad.

At first I thought, "Great, another Apple commercial with a dancing computer. Why don't they show what this thing can do?" Then I realized that the LCD dancing a great thing that the iMac can do and it shows off it's best feature. I enjoyed it. I hope they keep it up.

    From MacMinute:

    Apple airs new iMac commercial

March 7 - 22:40 ET: Apple this evening aired a new iMac commercial on NBC at 21:56 ET and again at 22:15 ET. The 30-second spot features a man standing outside a store window looking in at the new iMac. As the man moves his head around, the iMac's display mimics his movement; the man sticks his tongue out, and the iMac's optical drive opens. The spot ends with Jeff Goldblum's voice announcing, "Just wait until you see the new iMac." The commercial is not yet available for viewing online.

P.S. This is probably the spot that will appear on the Oscar broadcast March 24.

It's posted here (at least when I entered this post):

    <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/macrumors1/iMovieTheater1.html"; target="_blank">http://homepage.mac.com/macrumors1/iMovieTheater1.html</a>;

UPDATE: It's been removed. I suppose Apple will be posting it shortly.

Cute. I hope in follow up commercials, they go into some of the features.

Apple describe features on TV ads? Notice no visual showing it was an iMac, just Goldblums voice over. The Oscar cast will feature 30 sec. spots so this is probably it.

    like what?

    their blazing 800mhz processor?

the fact that they're still using SDRAM?

they could mention dvd burning... but the only thing going for the imac is form, osx, and iapps. they showed the form... the other 2 are software, completely independent of the imac hardware...

if anything the next commercial should play up the interaction between hardware and software.

No, not features like specs...general public doesn't understands that SDRAM crap anyways. But sure, the software while not iMac independant, it is a selling feature.

Show the ease of use, of actually doing something productive on it (like the DVD marriage ad they had). Or show it running VirtualPC to demonstrate how compatible it is.

Even playing games to show that there are games out for the Mac.

Just don't have a prancing monitor. While its good that it's amusing and intriguing, it may not be enough. Intrigue them, then supply them with some info why they should explore it further.
