trying to price my setup for sale

alrighty guys if you could help out an old AI vet (those who have been around for a while know i've been here, Jan 99 was my first post) with how much he should sell his rig for I would much appreciate it...



it was the top of the line 450 AGP (way way way way way back when)



450Mhz G4

DVD-RAM

Zip 100

27GB HD ATA 7200RPM

768MB PC100 RAM (3x 256)

Rage 128 Pro AGP Grapics card

OS 9.2.2



Additional

2x 18GB 10Krpm Ultra 2 Wide SCCI Seagate Cheetah HD's

Adaptec Single Channel U2W SCSI PCI Card

ixMicro TV Tuner card



(Plus i could list a bunch of installed software, but I hate it when people do that)



As well as a Lacie electron22blue (the I, not the II or III)



I wonder if I would get more for selling the two seperate though... hmmm



if you guys could help me out with some ideas on price and how i should sell it I would really appreciate it...

    you're looking at under a grand for the rig... maybe 800, 850... it might go for 950 if it had a Radeon.



    the Lacie 22 III wont even bring 750... II is about 600... so something like 400-500 maybe.

    60 MHz PowerPC 601

    40MB RAM

    CD-ROM Drive

    External Zip Drive 100

    Apple StyleWriter 2400 (it has a new color logic board after the original fried a few years ago)

    Mac OS 9.1 (It works reasonably fast too - it's great for old games or a database app)

    I did ask for a quote on the my Dual G4 500 at this spec:



    512MB RAM

    40GB HD

    Zip

    Radeon

    Apple Care til Jan 2004



    And the people told me I can ask for around $2550 CDN (rougly $1590 US). Used macs are usually costing higher than in the States....so I guess the fair price in US should be around $1400 US



    So do the math....your machine is at least one year older than mine.....plus "only" a single proecssor and a relatively tiny HD, DVD-RAM is 'no use'......and the video card......no warranty anymore



    So I think the fair price is around $850 US......

    Well, if you check

    <a href="http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Page.cfm?Parent=510&Title=&Template="; target="_blank">here</a> you'll see that a 6100 will run you about $40... add $20 for the display, another $20 for the printer... probably $100 all together. If you get very, very lucky.

    I was hoping to get more for it. Darn.



    I guess I'll just keep it as my book database server.

    2 80 MB ATA HDs.



    GeForce 4 Titanium

    Superdrive

    Firewire CD-ROM, 52X



    Cinema display.



    Loaded with every professional app available for OS X, buyer MUST promise to wipe HD clean after evaluating the software, and also promise to throw out the software backup disks I have mounted INSIDE the Powermac case. Failure to do so will abrogate the terms of purchase and the ownership of the Powermac will automatically revert to the original owner (me).



    So....how much for this setup? Any thoughts?

    Check out Ebay to value your system (completed sales). You might be able to get more from a local buyer at a Mac User Group.

    Well probably since you overclocked it, I would guess at least take the real used value and reduce it by 25%.



    And by the way, you can't sell it with apps on there unless you give up the licenses with them too... its called softloading and its illegal with up to $125,000 in fines criminally in the US alone plus civil damages... not fun huh?

    no way any of them priced in those drives and the scsi card, your looking at about $300 at least added on for that stuff.

    Anything named Cheetah in a computer is more likely to reduce the price of it.

    You could get a little over $1000 for it on ebay. The one prob is no OSX on it, and those extra SCSI cards and hard drives usually scare people away. I'm going to sell a G4 400 and for $990 on ebay and I think it will sell. Of course the computer must be in good shape, like mine, that always helps............................................. ...
