Following rumors that an anticipated trailer for Disney's upcoming Star Wars movie would be available for viewing online, the official Star Wars Twitter account confirmed availability through Apple's iTunes for Black Friday.

As announced in a tweet on Wednesday, the first "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" teaser trailer will be published to Apple's iTunes on Black Friday for public viewing. Apple corroborated in a tweet of its own shorty after Star Wars' announcement.

Previously, Lucasfilm said only 30 theaters nationwide would carry the 88-second tease this Friday. It is unclear if the move was spurred by fans disappointed by the limited release, or was part of Disney's plan to drum up interest.

The Force is with you on #BlackFriday when #TheForceAwakens teaser hits @iTunesTrailers.

Come Friday, the "Episode VII" trailer will assumedly be ready to watch on the iTunes Movie Trailers app as well as the iTunes desktop app and Apple's iTunes trailers website.

Disney's upcoming installment to the Star Wars franchise, directed by J.J. Abrams, has completed filming and is slated for release over a year from now on Dec. 18, 2015.

What a stupid title. Oh, well. The universe makes for endless stories. It just depends on the author thereof.

Lucas sucks at it, is what I’m saying.

The problem is that Abrams has a talent for killing franchises to fit his own artistic vision. I know it's easy to say "couldn't be worse than Christiansen/Portman dialogue", but...

I was pleasantly surprised by the Jurassic World trailer this week, so I think I'm going to be disappointed/horrified by this trailer.

Please don't screw it up so we have to reboot it in another 20 or 30 years...

Looks like I have to free up 88 seconds on Friday.

Huh, I hadn’t considered. I just figured the Star Treks were following a larger overall “DARKER; GRITTIER” campaign of reboots.

Ahmed Best stars as a human Jedi.

Were you? I was disappointed. The CGI looks a decade old. They could have at least built a MINIATURE of the iconic doors and shot it. And they’re still doing that stupid hybrid storyline, but at least it’s not human/dinosaur hybrids like they wanted...

The only thing I enjoyed was the trained raptors. I geeked out over Arthur C. Clarke’s use of them in 3001 (which was a depressing sequel in many ways in its own right), so seeing them here in a justified sense (...dum da doo, hybrid DNA to make them docile, derpa derp...) was great.

    Still, I like this one:

Not in the Jurassic Park franchise, but it’s terrifying for something else.

Not crazy about the title, but it (sort of) works within the context of the whole series. Remember, Star Wars was hugely influenced by the old Buck Rogers serials, and titles included:

    • Tomorrow's World

    • Tragedy on Saturn

    • The Enemy's Stronghold

    • The Sky Patrol

    • The Phantom Plane

    • The Unknown Command

    • Primitive Urge

    • Revolt of the Zuggs

    • Bodies Without Minds

    • Broken Barriers

    • A Prince in Bondage

    • War of the Planets

As far as the CGI goes, they actually said some of those shots (like the gate/monorail scene) were put together just for the trailer, so I think the final product will look better. And I did like the trained Raptors. My only real issue is that I see a lot of Samdung products in the trailer (though I didn't see any branding, at least) and Chris Pratt's dialogue was delivered pretty poorly. Jurassic Park always had Apple products.

My main issue with the new Trek films is that they completely changed things to make it more appealing to average Joe. I refused to see Into Darkness, since it was a petty rehash of Star Trek II.

As far I was concerned, Episode VII, VIII, and IX should have been called Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command, respectively. And hey, there happen to be great books with those titles! Isn't that funny? Well, I guess they could have just used those stories too... 8-)

That they didn't. Those Quadra 700's weren't cheap back then! Nor was the SGI equipment or the Thinking Machines supercomputer.

In III, the 3-D printer is powered by a IIci, oddly.

Given what Abrams did to the Star Trek franchise (all effects, no plot), I don't hold much hope for the new Star Wars movie, but Abrams isn't stupid and will probably react to fan criticism of the previous trilogy.

But sorry, I'm not going to get excited or hyped by any trailer for any movie that opens a **year** from now. I don't know when this trend started (probably The Lord of Rings), but it needs to stop. People who care already know its coming out; people who might go but aren't stalky followers of every tiny bit of news need the trailer to appear maybe four months (max) before the premiere so they can plan to catch it. A year from now I won't even remember what was in the trailer, let alone rely on that to make sure I see the picture. It's ridiculous. #grumpyoldman #youkidsgetoffmylawn

I wouldn't know, the lens flare usually blinds me.

At least the picture above has a Metro look to it.

But they’d be anachronistic. Wait, wouldn’t they? I thought those took place between Empire and Jedi.

No, Thrawn Trilogy was ten years after Jedi.

Timothy Zahn should be in charge of writing the script for the films.

They should bring back Shatner to give him a better send off, the same way they brought back Denise Crosby in TNG. Generations wasn't bad, but it wasn't Kirk-level epic.

I may be the only person in the world to say so, but I liked the look of the two Trek movies. I thought the lens flares gave a nice visually distinctive look. Having said that, Abrams has promised not to "flare up" Star Wars. ;)

I thought Shatner was the bounty hunter who is going to kill JarJar in the first twenty seconds of the film...
