I think you're on to something...a recent poll of convicts in state and federal prisons; most of the crimes were committed by Android users, with Windows phone users disproportionally represented. The rare iPhone user was generally in for a white collar crime that they really didn't commit. Additionally, Windows phone users were most likely to re-offend. I guess they just never learn from their past bad choices.

Do you have a cite for this? If so, please share. (Unless, of course, you were joking.... In which case, :embarrass)

It doesn’t really make any sense unless the vast majority of Android devices are the cheapest low end crap running an outdated version of Android.

If you're talking about 'phone calls' and looking at just Android smartphones vs iPhones, the data shows usage and shopping at a pretty even 46/54 split with Apple still ahead, but with the looming reality that market share does matter.  They dropped to 54%  from the whopping 75% they held only 2 years ago.

So phone wise there isn't really much of a disparity.

Tablets are a whole different story with the iPads totally ruling the roost.  Only a small percentage of 'mobile shoppers' actually shopped on their phones.  The majority of 'mobile shoppers' came from tablets.  So yes, people are doing way more shopping on iPads than on Android tablets.  Phones are basically a coinflip.

The article also doesn't mention dollars.   While smartphone transactions are close to 50/50, dollarwise Apple users still outspend Android users though that gap too closed substantially.  I think Apple users were averaging around $120 per transaction to android users' $100, so Apple is where the moolah is coming from.

Will reports like this do anything to encourage retail and online merchant to adopt ApplePay going forward? Doesn't this prove that iOS users are premier customers?

I think Apple is doing some "co-op" advertising with at least one large bank to promote ApplePay, and in those ads illustrate how easy ApplePay is to use. In my opinion, Apple should do much more ("co-op") advertising (where the banks pay for 1/2 of the ad insertions), especially to push more merchants into getting onboard with ApplePay. I haven't heard many reports of many new merchants signing up since the iPhone 6 hit the market. I have been randomly asking iPhone 6 owners I see around town if they have used ApplePay yet, and almost everyone says no, and most don't even seem to know it is a feature on their new phones or anything about it???

Really? Spam? I kind of doubt it, unless everyone was buying penny stocks, loan refinances, and tummy tuck devices.

My two Cyber Monday purchases were both driven my email marketing, but neither one was "spam".

I didn't even know spam was in fashion these days.

I had beef dripping sandwiches as a child, which probably explains a lot.

In view of the total iPad dominance, I still think Apple should have given it the complete Apple Pay. Even the bigger iPad Air 2 is really light and portable. I can think of a few situations where I would like to pay using my iPad.

This past Friday! Apple still sells iPods, you know. And they're great for kids to play games.

    Yes, I know -

I just wouldn't have expected it to be such a strident

Count the wife and I in on these numbers for black friday weekend. Finally found a couple space grey 64 GB 6 pluses at a local store and snatched them up. It did take us a while to find any in stock.

So far I have to say I am happy to be back in the Apple ecosystem although I did enjoy my stay in the windows phone world for awhile.

Nice to have ALL the apps available again and I have to say the phones are very lite for the size. Display is great too. Still exploring the new options in IOS 8 although it is similar to whats on my iPad mini.

And yes, it DOES fit in my jeans pocket just fine.

Well, I'm certainly glad you distinguished the normal people from Apple users. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

"Cyber Monday sales were driven by spam email marketing, which overtook Google search ads and organic search, the firm reported. "

Shoddy journalism there! The report said nothing of the sort the SPAM word wasn't used.

Maybe you should look up the definition of spam It's not spam if someone signs up to get deals and then gets an email that contains deals. which is where the majority of sales came from

This is hardly surprising. The whole myth of Android's alleged activation numbers isn't worth a whole lot. What are all of those billions of people doing with their devices? They're certainly not shopping online too much, like normal people and Apple users do.

Does it surprise anybody that people buying tablets, with some of them even being in the sub 100 dollar range (complete garbage devices), are not buying too much online? They are obviously flat broke. Who else in their right minds would ever buy those junk devices?

But enough about damn Android devices and the ridiculous Fandroids who use them! Back to Apple!

It's pretty obvious to see that Apple is going to have a great holiday season. There have been a ton of sales for all kinds of Apple devices, and they must have sold a crap load in just the past week. An iPad Mini 2 for $225? Crazy cheap! And I don't think that Apple is going to do any worse going into the Christmas/New Year's season. Apple devices remain on top.

Everyone I know that uses android devices doesn't do much with them.

The rare Pictures, the txting, phone calls.

A bit of email and Internet rarely.

Most of these don't know how to use their device half the time.

Contrast with everyone I know using iOS. Everyone is glued to their devices and is nearly an instant expert on usage. And these people actually take care of their devices because they CARE about them.

    THATS saying something.
