[sorry for the gross post] <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Made the mistake of eating dinner at my computer the other day, and now my hands get greasy after 5 minutes of typing. Even after washing them, it still happens.

Maybe I'll just switch keyboard with a co-worker.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You get your vac out and put the big soft brush on it. Then vac and vac and vac and vac. Get between the keys. Then you spray glass cleaner on a cloth and wipe it down and clean each key one by one.

What every you do, do not use glass cleaner. No way. Glass cleaner has a certain chemical in it that will strip the protective coating right off your keyborad. Your best bet is to buy some 15cent Rubbing Alcohol with a clean dry rag.

Soap and warm water on a soft washcloth have always worked fine for me.

[edit] Don't forget to ring out the washcloth first, of course! You obviously don't want soapy water dripping into the board behind the keys.

strong rubbing alcohol can also rub off stuff like ink and paint.

Every few months I rip off every key and soak those in soapy water, then I take a brush to the board and scrub away.

Pop of each key. Vacuum the base to get all the cheez-its, paper clips, etc out of there. Maybe wipe it down with a damp paper towel if there's grease there too.

Put the keys into a basin of soapy water, dishwasher, whatever.

You can pop them off really easily. You could do it with your hand, but that can sometimes be tough. Wedging and yanking with a screwdriver is easy and satisfying. Sometimes I am able to get keys to fly off at terrific speeds up to five feet.

On my old iMac keyboard popping the keys off is easy and doesn't seem to cause any harm.

However you do it, flip the keyboard upside down first and wash off the keys from underneath. Then you'll be sure to not drip anything inside.
