Really sick of these idiots! The two that were killed were breaking the law and that is the risk when you so those kinds of things!!!! These idiots should be arrested immediately and a Heavy fine imposed to maybe give them a reality check!!!

Yes, let's shoot them first and fine them after. Let's dispense with the courts and shoot them in the street.

Well, I guess that's one option.

I think that some may consider that allowing the police to dispense instant justice to be a little too Judge Dredd.

However, I may be wrong. Write a letter to your local politician to let him know your thoughts.

"We are going to shake up your business and we want to hit you where it hurts."

Who is it, exactly, that he thinks these protests are hurting?! Go egg the grand jury members' houses or something. Don't disrupt businesses that had NOTHING to do with the issue you're protesting. I'm SO fed up over ppl confusing destruction with heroism. You aren't winning sympathy. You aren't winning support. You're making enemies. And you're setting a truly Horrible example to young people who look to make a positive difference in the world. You should be ashamed. For everyone's sake, put your brainpower to better use.

Wow, I am shock by the ignorance of almost all these comments. It's as if everyone posting here is 14 years old, lives in a gated community and has zero understanding of the outside world, politics, racial discrimination, America's history of civil obedience and how democracy actually works.

I'll try to address a few of your stupid post starting with why your precious Apple store was the best place for a peaceful demonstration. If you lived in NYC as I do you would know that our city is flooded with millions of tourists and at Christmas time the streets are literally clogged with them. Places like the Apple store provide a big audience to get the message across. This demonstration took about 15 minutes then moved on. Your dear Apple store was left undamaged and perhaps a handful of customers got the message that we still have a long way to go in regards to race equality and the overuse of force some police departments use when arresting people of color.

New York City just ended a long policy called "stop and frisk" which gave police the freedom to stop anyone on the street and search that person's body. They did not need to justify the search which is an assault on all Americans Constitutional rights.

The recent deaths (homicides) committed by police officers due to excessive force when arresting American citizens has a long history much of has not been reported in mainstream news outlets.

If any of you care about your country and the rights of yourself and your fellow Americans you would support this effort to bring about meaningful change in how police are trained and prosecuted when unjustified force is used against citizens. Until you are brutelized many of you I fear are incapable of enough empathy and the brain power to see beyond you Macs or iOS devices screens.

Do you understand or appreciate that the complaints you are listing have all happened under a Democrat president and Congress and in socialist progressive Democrat-dominated New York? Under just two administrations, Bush and Obama, more damage has been done to the balance of power and to our Constitutional protections in the history of this country.

When I saw that this post had 300+ comments, I had a momentary hope that, this being a site associated with the company that urged us to "think different" and praised "the rebels, the misfits, the crazy ones", that I'd see sympathy, humanity, and reasoned debate in this thread.

But nope, it's worked out here just like every other news site – the comments section of any article about a hot-button political issue is dominated by white guys venting their misdirected rage and frustration. Sometimes I feel like white America is a ship sailing off into the Republican Neverland, while the rest of the country looks on in disbelief.

I guess such assumptions would make you a racist and a bigot. Congratulations!

Thanks. Please send me my "Reverse Racist Of The Week" award plaque via UPS. (Because "reverse racism" is the only kind of racism that still exists in the US; straight white Christian males are grievously oppressed; blacks and Latinos are "whiners" looking for "free stuff"; etc., etc.)

(Also global warming is fake and the Black Panthers got Obama elected by occupying polling places while armed)

(If I hear any other news bulletins from Republican Neverland, I'll let you know)

Keep the "updates" for yourself. I'm not a Republican. Also, the racist belief that all Hispanics or African-Americans are "oppressed" is a tiresome fantasy. This is America. What matters here is money, not race.

It doesn't matter if you identify as a Republican or not -- on this issue, you are living in the fantasyland that the GOP has created for their political gain.

So I can argue that you're a Communist agitator no matter what you say, right? Thanks.

The inability/unwillingness to distinguish between the idea that racism is a big problem in the US and this strawman of yours is an important characteristic of the Neverland.

You can certainly argue that -- if you can make a plausible comparison between what I've said here and whatever "Communist agitators" say.

However, it's worth noting that actual Communist agitators are very thin on the ground. In contrast, the absurdly unrealistic views that you've expressed here are endorsed by many major media figures and are reflected in the words and deeds of the political party that dominates the legislature of the world's most powerful nation. That, to me, is a little more concerning than "Communist agitators", and it's annoying to find those same absurd views parroted on this site.

The stuff you are communicating is Marxist collectivist ideology used by liberals and progressives (Saul Alinsky being the source of the modern movement). Maybe you are not aware of this, maybe you are. What I am trying to communicate is a fundamental property rights issue, which has no connection to race politics and the fantasies of these misguided protestors.

I get how peaceful protests work. And I understand the importance of raising awareness. But These types of protests, the ones that disrupt what you might call "third party businesses" that have NOTHING to do with the issue, are just destructive and arguably UNpeaceful. If you wanna organize a "die-in" in the courthouse lobby or in front of the police commissioner's office, I could understand that. But this kind of behavior at Retail Stores?? It's Disruptive to businesses who are innocent to your cause. It's a bully tactic. It's me taking my frustrations from work out on my friends or family in the hopes of making a point. It's wrong. You Have to see that.

If "Empathy" is what protesters are wanting from people, perhaps they ought not seek to Hurt them or their businesses. I am a firm believer in peaceful demonstrations. I am NOT, however, a supporter of Any activity which aims to cause damage. And as Santos LITERALLY said, "We are going to shake up your business and we want to hit you where it hurts." For that reason, I cannot support his efforts. And if you truly Do care for others, neither should you. There is a better way.

How do you stop racism in a ever evolving population? NYC has the most segregated school system of all the major cities. Why? Not because of the city, but because people like living with their own kind, and settle only in certain neighborhoods. On paper the police force is more diverse, Asians, Indians, Eastern Europeans, etc.., and most are first generation that have had little interactions with other races. How do we prevent them from being racists?

I don't have an answer for that -- but I do know that the biggest obstacle to progress on this front is not a lack of answers/ideas/things we should try, but rather the widespread refusal to admit that the problem exists in the first place (see: the majority of posts in this thread). So I'm glad to see that you, at least (and a few other posters here) are willing to grapple with this in a more honest way.

You're using a broad brush to paint people here that is as bad as the bigotry you supposedly decry.

Yes, making generalizations about Republicans is totally just as bad as denying and belittling the toxic lingering effects of slavery and institutionalized white supremacy. It is bigotry like mine that keeps today's Republicans mired in poverty-stricken ghettoes around the nation.
