Looks like the Nvidia Shield Tablet is the best. Beats out all. 32Bit and it's 6 months old.

Best hardware specs? Sure... the Nvidia Shield tablet has the best hardware specs.

    Best Holiday gift? Probably not.

It's time to realize the difference between hardware specs and OVERALL experience.

Would Aunt Edna really prefer the Nvidia Shield tablet as a Holiday gift instead of an iPad?

    Good question!

I'd like to know the answer to that also.

The piano that I mentioned was actually an IAP.

The app itself was around 1 GB and the piano IAP was 2 GB.

I'm not sure if the 2GB limit is because of some technical limitation, or if it's just something that Apple put in place, but I sure hope that it's increased soon.

There are many desktop apps and games that are massive in size, and especially when porting some of them over to iPad, 2 GB is just not going to cut it.

I expect perfection from my iPad apps. This is not Android that we're talking about here.

    Sounds good to me!

I will never, ever again be buying the lowest model, so that suits me just fine.

Meanwhile in Android land, 32 GB max is what they're used to, like on the new Nexus tablet! What a damn joke!<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

    No joke here.

I am saying that I would like a 10 GB piano app instead of the 2 GB app, and yes, that would obviously sound better than the smaller sized app.

I was just wondering if there's any size limit for apps. I haven't come across any really large apps yet that go beyond 2 GB.

    Apple][ has jumped the shark.

Me too. I am loving my 128 Gb iPhone 6 and can't believe how much I suffered with my old 16 Gb iPhone 4. Don't get me wrong, the 4 was a great old warhorse, but being able to have whatever I want whenever I want on my phone instead of having to supervise and prioritize all my cloud solutions I was using, is just flippin' awesome!

I would suspect that for some, mostly people who do a lot of reading, that 32gb is plenty of storage as iBooks don't take up a ton of room on an iPad but as you said when you get into apps like piano apps then that 32gb would get eaten up pretty fast.

I think 32gb is standard on Android tablets as one of their "marquee" features is that ability to add more storage via a micro SD-card which quite honestly seems more of a hassle than a feature

But that new Nexus 9 tablet that some Fandroids are hyping doesn't even have any card slots, does it? So 32 GB is truly 32 GB max and that's it.

I'm not surprised - iPads are the best. I also think iPhones are better in a head-to-head with any phone made for Android. (Bet I'm not the only one here to think that!) This recommendation is warranted but I'm really amazed that an Android fan site would state that.

That said, I bet DED just jizzed his pants when he saw that! This is just the latest point in the phanboi rivalry between two great platforms.

You're right. Wow. That is bad.

I am a Android guy. our household of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids under 12) owns 4 Kindle Fires, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, a Samsung Galaxy S5 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. They are all rooted, so I can get rid of all the crapware I don't want and add things they won't give me. They all serve there purpose and I have no real complaints.

I am for the first time seriously considering buying a Ipad. Just to see what it is all about, and I have lots of family and friends that use Apple exclusively -kids want to play games with and use FaceTime with them.

My main issues with Apple are the closed environment, no expandable memory and no USB. I don't want to argue and don't want to be called names.

What are the reasons I should buy a Ipad?

    Aha! So that's why.

Hopefully that is something that will be changed in the future, because 2GB is simply too little, compared to where iPads are today.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next iPad is offered with 256 GB. I currently have the 128 GB Air 2.

Apple needs to go beyond 2 GB. So many apps would benefit from that.

To put things in perspective, accurately, the limitation is likely a 32bit signed number, somewhere. If that's not the case, then it's Apple just trying to avoid a situation where updating an app (already happens with iOS itself) can't be updated because the amount of free space required is larger than the flash memory size altogether.

For example the iPad, 16GB, I had to delete pretty much everything off it to update it to iOS8. That update required 5GB of free space.

If something was 10GB in size, it would require 20GB of free space to update.

    Why the surprise?

Android is the second best operating system ever created by Apple so why not recommend Apple's hardware as well?

I've had previous iPads before that were 16 GB and 32 GB, so I do know about having to manage your storage, especially when updating the OS on a device that is near full.

Larger sized apps would obviously not be suitable for people that do not have the storage space.

iPads are becoming more powerful, and I believe that Apple needs to up the ante and offer more freedom to developers to deliver large sized apps.

Actually, this poor guy David Ruddock may have to watch his back and be extra careful going past dark alleys. I can see a bunch of irate Android zealots throwing a blanket over him and beating him senseless with rubber hoses.

Assuming those Fandroids can make it out of their mother's basements and do without Cheetos and Mountain Dew for an evening.

You can make the app any size you want. In those case, just separate the assets from the app and download them separately when the app first loads.

I'm not a developer and I don't know the technical details, but are you saying that it is indeed possible for an app to be however large the developer feels like making it?

So if somebody feels like releasing a game that is 10 GB tomorrow, they could do it?

That seems like a good explanation.

It's a shame to hamper those with 128GB iPads just because the low storage model would struggle. Perhaps with the big iPad, Apple will double the capacity and lift the limit on app size.

If the developer hosts the resources themselves I believe it's ok. Not sure if there's any limits on that.

Boy, they're going to lose a lot of readers over that decision, true though it may be.

Most of the internet gets page hit by writing inflammatory articles against Apple wouldn't it make sense for a pro-Android site to post the occasional pro-Apple article to get attention. We're now talking about, right?
