i think $6 to rent a digital movie for 24 hours is god awful. i quit brick & mortar blockbusters and moved to netflix for a lesser fee structure...

but he's completely right you're totally wrong. you simply cannot know the reasons and its surely not cowardice.

It was the original release date. So it's them ultimately trying to not be seen as having backed down..

Now WHY Christmas Day would be seen as a good choice is another topic altogether... looks to me like the film version of 'take out the trash Fridays' when you let something out you don't want anyone to notice. Though the generic Christmas holiday break period has the value of people having time off for the overall slot, just Dec. 25th specifically is a puzzler.

stupidist comment I've read all week -- hats off to you.

its surely about freedom of speech, and dictators in other countries trying to terrorize me into not having the choice to see what i care to see.

if you can link us to obama advocating the banning of the freedom of speech because, uh, islam, then ill give you my first born.

ah, so now following something on Fox makes you a geo-political expert. riiiight...

too bad its only old white guys (cough, GOP), who feel the way you do. the rest of civilization doesn't give a shit about it because its a non-issue. just a Fox News headline designed to generate ad impressions on their network. mission accomplished. they've moved on, too.

Nothing is hack proof and I never said otherwise. But all the various exploits and trojans used in this specific Sony hack were Windows based. The main two were a SMB worm and WMI a tool for managing large Windows based systems. But I am also aware Apple has retreated a bit from corporate use and servers so I am not sure if a company wanted to go "Mac-heavy" if that is even possible anymore. If not, then maybe this hack will make Tim Cook rethink getting back into the corporate space.

YouTube is 30 days to start it and 48 hours of viewing. For day of release when a movie theater around me is at least $6 per person for a matinee I think that's a sweet deal.

I un-hid my YouTube app on the Apple TV — I had thought I read it was removed as a channel altogether — and was dreading putting in my 50 character password with the Apple Remote; I was impressed to see a very nice solution appear on the Apple TV's YouTube app that told me to go to youtube.com/activate and input an 8 letter code to authenticate. It's nice that you can watch it across any service for the account in which it which it was purchased, albeit on one device at a time.

edit: I just noticed the maximum quality is 480p so, for me, that's the biggest slight against the cost of the rental.

When was the last time that any North Korean terrorists attacked and killed Americans on US soil? Has it happened ever? Is there any reason at all to take these laughable threats seriously?:D

I applaud all of the brave Americans for sacrificing their security, putting their lives at risk and taking a courageous stand by standing up to a tiny midget. Your valor and honor is unprecedented. Your country thanks you for your service, in the name of freedom and free speech. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Could you be more specific about which religion you are mentioning.

At least three come to mind...

    Oh... and...

actually i think it does. racists and nazis and whoever are free to speak their hate here in the US. they just can't incite people to act on those thoughts with violence.

Yeah right. I remember many on the left that were all for censoring stick figure drawings a while back. What a ridiculous, and hypocritical bunch. I don't believe many when they say it's about freedom of speech. That only applies when it's about speech that they agree with, which in this case, is a lame comedy movie. What a worthy cause.

I remember seeing a picture (or reading) somewhere that Kim Jong Whatever is a Mac user. Can anyone confirm this?

I can't help but think of the big picture. What if Sony showed the film and 3 or 4 movie theatres were bombed with significant loss of life (one life is too many to me).

freedom isn't free -- it costs blood. theres no way around that fact. yep, people are gonna die. it happens. if we didn't ban automobiles after just "one life" is lost, why would we ban ourselves?

clearly, one life isn't too many when it comes to freedom. nor would 3 or 5 movie theaters worth of lives. i will accept that loss and that risk to my own safety, in order to live in a free society.

You should ask Slurpy. I didn't even mention it specifically, yet he automatically knew what it was. What a coincidence. Anybody who isn't lying to themselves, knows the answer to that question.

i can vouch for this -- when responding to BJ Frost's racist post about black customers being thugs, i myself got banned. no explanation given. this is normal here??

Making a general comment about others isn't an issue here, but personally attacking another poster with an ad hominem isn't. Attack the post, not the poster, and you'll be fine.
