The first Made for iPhone licensed battery cases for Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been announced from popular accessory makers Mophie and Otterbox, giving users the ability to not only protect their latest-generation handset, but also extend its battery life.

Mophie Juice Packs

Leading the pack on Tuesday was Mophie, which has introduced updated versions of its popular Juice Pack Air and Juice Pack Plus cases. The $99.95 Juice Pack Air for iPhone 6 will double the device's battery life with a 2,750mAh capacity, while the larger $119.95 Plus model offers 120 percent more battery life with 3,300mAh.

For Apple's jumbo-sized iPhone 6 Plus, Mophie will offer the 2,600mAh Juice Pack for $99.95, sporting an ultra-thin profile and boosts battery power by 60 percent.

As licensed Made for iPhone accessories, the devices connect through the Lightning port on the bottom of the latest iPhones.

All three new Mophie Juice Packs are now available for preorder through the company's website, and come in colors that match Apple's latest iPhone lineup. All models are advertised to ship in three to four weeks.

Otterbox Resurgence

Otterbox has also joined the fray with a lineup of officially licensed iPhone 6 battery cases. The new Resurgence Power Case series features a 2,600mAh battery doubling boost, along with enhanced drop protection.

The Resurgence Power Case for iPhone 6 is now listed on the Otterbox website, with a vague "coming soon" availability listed. It will sell in black, glacier, cardinal, and mint ice colors for $99.95.

And those crybabies have had such a negative impact on iPhone sales too. Not! This is the Internet in the 21st century. Every crybaby, screwball, troll, critic, sad-sack, Debbie Downer, glass-half-empty nincompoop thinks they can influence the company or hurt it with their negativity. Well they can’t and that makes them irrelevant and laughable.

Unfortunately, it appears that neither of these cases uses the Lightning connector for re-charging but instead rely on on a micro USB connector. Apple recently started allowing licensees to use the female Lightning connector on products for this very reason.

Maybe paying for the license would've driven the price up too high.

I was bummed out about that too. Keep getting the "this device may not be compatible" with my current Mophie case. Rather annoying. But like the poster below you mentioned, likely to expensive to license.

    Shame about that protruding camera.

I don't want a pimple on my iPhone.

It's not so much the expense, although that's a factor, it's also parts availability. If Apple only recently changed policy to make it available, these products were designed before it was an option. Parts are only now becoming available for third party use, which would mean these products would have had to ship even later if the companies wanted to redesign their products and wait around for parts to be supplied in quantity.
