Cheap Chinese Apple Watch copycat appears at CES 16 weeks later than anticipated
There. Fixed it for you.
Substantively, Apple can (and perhaps does) act to require customs officials confiscate infringing articles. Hard to do at the US border; even harder to get cooperation from even the friendliest of foreign nations. And does Apple really want to make a public claim that these articles in any way dilute or harm their products? Even recognizing their existence is ... well ... beneath them, Sir Jony's displeasure aside.
I have seen pictures of this watch with the icons on the face in color like this one. Although after further inspection, it looks like it may be a printed screen protector overlay like Apple has done in the past. So it may well not be color. I thought it was because of this image until I looked closer.
Judging from the video, I don't think this knockoffs even has a home screen. Pushing the crown takes you to the (ugly, digital) watch face. The lower button takes you to a 90s style menu where you can scroll through different functions.
The UI alone would make me not want this, even as a $30 novelty.
Billiger or Billig, in German means, cheap. You'll hear that word often in his review.
I do not agree with the idea that Apple should sue this company, it'll only empower them and they'll end up mushrooming like Samsung. Apple should investigate other channels with the Chinese government, they've successfully done it before with the fake Apple stores.
What stood out to me is that it's not AMOLED so the blacks are extremely poor so that the border and display are easily discerned. My guess is ?Watch will have to use OLED to get that effect, as well as reduce power usage by making the screens use a lot of black (or rather, not activate most of the pixels).
I believe I read somewhere that ?Watch does use OLED.
At $27 it's a way better deal for what it does than the Apple Watch is at $350 for what it does. Yes, the Apple Watch does more, but it doesn't do $323 more.
I wonder if at a prestigious Watch show the organizers would allow a stand for fake Rolex watches? I doubt it. Seems to me some policing at C.E.S. is in order and I don't care if it isn't called an iWatch.
This is just ridiculous. I wish our government would have the balls to go after China for things like this. It's just sickening the amount of copying the Chinese do. From electronics to even the Ford F-150, the Chinese just have no shame.
It's a double-edged sword. Make apple's products at current quality without China, and they'd be significantly more expensive. No shame on the labor front helps American companies deliver much for little.
Would you go and lick up some dog poo from the sidewalk to give you an idea of what dinner tonight is going to taste like?
Wait, who's cooking?
Reminds me of Ron White. Dog eats food from the table and starts licking his but. Wife says "what the hell is he doing?" Ron says "probably trying to get the taste out of his mouth."

did the Omega do $5000 more than a regular watch? This kind of idiotic comments should have never been posted in the tech forums.

So you think this $27 watch has the same level of hardware/software quality and uses the same premium materials and precision manufacturing? Or does that not count? Oh and all the R&D Apple put ?Watch...that doesn't count either?

The fking annoying thing to me that this is even allowed at CES. It's a joke. CES boycott.

I completely understand (and generally agree with) both of these statements.
However, that brings up the question of whether CES has (or should have) the authority to proactively police and/or enforce intellectual property law/patent, trademark, etc.
Not to say this isn’t a question that should be brought up, just that it would be brought up.

Found this on macrumors. Sure looks like that part of the UI and it is in color.

You missed my point. If I could go somewhere and put an Apple Watch on my wrist, decide whether the 38 or 42 was right for me, pick out a band, and color, I would feel much better about it. As it stands currently, I will be sitting in my living room on preorder night trying to guess which size will be best for me. Here's hoping they have in-store samples you can try on, before preorders start.

The headline is clearly a typo. Should be:

Forget about it Jake... It's Las Vegas!
Or else we're in The Matrix.

I'd love to own one of these, if for no other reason than to get a feel for what the real version would be like, before I buy it.
What an outrageous and ridiculous idea!
