MacAddict Magazine
Well, I got my May issue of MacAddict today and was very surprised to find a piece of paper saying "Your Disc is Missing! Your Subscription has Expired!".
The reason I found this so surprising is that at last year's Macworld Expo, a 3 year subscription extension was purchased for me by my parents because they knew that I got the magazine and because it was the only thing besides the Apple booth that they recognized at the show.
When I moved at the end of July, I changed my address with MacAddict online, and my subscription was sent to my new home without any problems. At that time, my subscription was due to expire in April, 2005. I logged on today to see that it had 'expired' April, 2002.
I called MacAddict, and at first, they claimed that they did not sell magazine subscriptions at Macworld Expo and did not even attend the show. I then informed her that MacAddict was at the show, and even gave away magazines trying to get people to subscribe!
At that point, the woman put me on hold for a very long time and then came back on and told me that MacAddict DID sell magazie subscriptions at Macworld, but that there was a problem in entering the information into their database AND that I would need to show proof that I purchased the subscription at the expo and somehow get that to them.
So even though I had a magazine subscription due to run out in April, 2005 back in August, my last magazine came today, without a disc, and I have to prove to them that the subscription was ordered in the first place. I sure hope that my parents wrote a check or used a credit card. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
I was never planning on resubscribing to the magazine again any way. I generally get all the Mac news I need online, and have found the magazine to be lacking in some of the more recent issues. But now that they are trying to get away with keeping the money for a subscription is ridiculous. It's too bad that people don't want to do the right thing any more.

MacAddict was getting too childish for me. I used to love the Discs when I had 56k but now with Broadband if I want the software...I could have it much sooner. Note to Rags...the Internet IS competition....up your game or beat it!
But I have to say that I really dig the new look/feel of Macworld (since the last issue): WAY more content (smaller font and tighter leading makes for really nice, long articles and reviews), plus it seems more jam-packed and content-heavy than it has in years.
It's like the Macworld of the early/mid 90's (when I first started reading it): lots and lots of stuff!
But I like the overall pro-Mac tone and vibe of Kelby's MacDesign mag.
Those are my two favorites.

Most people would consider that a blessing, murbot. You don't realize how lucky you truly are!
So I changed my handle here, and am not planning on resuscribing.
