Golf is more of a sport than soccer, but I still prefer baseball, and MLB loves Apple.

Baseball (and Golf) are "games". That's why they're interesting. Football straddles the line between sport and game.

But Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Foosball. Ugh. Borrrrrring!!!! Back Forth Back Forth Back Forth Back.

Are they then not playing a sport if their task isn't specifically encouraging "hand-eye coordination"? I think the definition of "hand-eye coordination" is specifically designed to exclude soccer.

    Running is a hobby for crazy people. <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

(seriously, I respect people who run, but I don't have any desire (or capacity) to join them)

I don't consider video gaming to be a sport. If some people want to call it an eSport, whatever, but it's a hobby. Same with soccer.

Not really. Most humans have a good degree of foot-eye coordination. That whole walking thing.

As stated, I'd say no. The hands and arms are used in soccer but more for increasing momentum, changing direction, and balance, not for specifically with hand-eye coordination, even though I would guess it's much harder to do quick maneuvers on an open field (read: no chance of running into something) with the eyes closes. I'd say that it's foot-eye coordination, or use the general proprioception to describe the type of ability needed for sports.

What if the players are replaced with monkeys? The hand vs. foot dilemma disappears...

That's like saying anyone can be a receiver in football because, "Most humans have a good degree of [hand]-eye coordination. That whole [picking up objects] thing."

All of those games/sports except foosball have big fan bases and sold out venues. Lots of people using their Mastercard for tickets, food, drink, souvenirs, etc. One sport isn't better than another they just appeal to different people. There are even people in Jamaica who are interested in bobsledding and travel to the Olympics to buy a hotdog and a beer with their Mastercard using ?Pay presumably.

Same with arena names. Glendale Arena sounds a lot better than the Jobing.com Arena.

Does it matter?  It works with Apple Pay and Apple pay once again is getting Advertised!!!  Even if Google Wallet worked, it's not being mentioned as always.    Pretty much how Google Wallet has been for the last 4 years.  Zero Advertisement, even from Google.   used so much that NFC terminals were going away in the U.S.  Since Apple Pay, NFC terminals are making a comeback.    As always, No one cares or cared about Google Wallet, and Apple Pay is being advertised by everyone.  Apple doesn't even have to do it themselves.    For Android having such a huge market share, that Apple Is the one that is pushing NFC is is pretty funny.  All Google really cares about is looking at what you buy, how much you spent and from who and adding that data to all the other data they're collecting from you and your Android phone.   Not that I care, it's Google's business model and how they make money.

All the lame excuses why Google Wallet hasn't taken off is just that, LAME!  100% Google's fault just like their OS update nightmare that never had to be.

Golf more of a sport than soccer? No way. Soccer is a tough sport. It's way more exciting than watching a bunch of fat guys throw a ball.

The years that Google had trying to promote NFC and GoogleWallet, the Fandroids harping how great it was (not), and criticizing Apple's implementation, and better-yet, lying as to how it was as secure, or more-secure that Apple-Pay and TouchID.

Once again, they should be counting their blessings that Apple did it right, so the crap that is GoogleWallet and others can once-again piggy-back on Apple's success and make NFC mainstream, doing something that Google could never pull off.

I'm glad ?Pay is getting all the attention but the reason I ask the question is because it's good for people to know there's nothing proprietary or exclusive about ?Pay. I remember when it was first launched I saw posts on tech sites from people complaining about ?Pay because they thought there was something special merchants had to do for it to work and why couldn't Apple use the same standards everyone else uses blah blah blah. I think it's important people are aware ?Pay can be used at any NFC equipped terminal. I've seen some that feature the ?Pay logo but most don't.

I'm not sure this is true. The retailer has to be connected to a merchant gateway that accepts ?Pay. Probably most NFC equipped terminals are connected to an ?Pay bank but it is not necessarily automatic. For example Chevron is promising to integrate ?Pay in early 2015 but they have had NFC payment capabilities at the pump for several years.

On a related topic, I got my my first chip and pin credit card today in the mail from AMEX.

You mean like to Visa, Mastercard, American Express?

What merchant is connected to those?  /s

OK Apple can you make sure the BNP Paribas tennis tournament in Indian Wells supports ?Pay so I can use it when I'm there in March? Larry Ellison owns the tournament so it shouldn't be that difficult.

Most retailers are connected to a third party merchant gateway like Card Services Inc. or to their own merchant bank that provided the card terminal.  They are not connected directly to the credit card companies except in the case of AMEX which processes it's own payments.
