I HATE Newsweek

I just got this weeks Newsweek, and they have an article about the office of the future. On the fold out poster, they have a timeline of important dates. They have the IBM PC and Microsoft solitare, but there's no mention of apple. No Apple 2, Macintosh, Newton, nothing! It'd have killed them to mention of apple.

That's because it's an article about the office environment. Something Apple has not really ever had an impact on. Apple has more of a historical impact in the home and desktop publishing area, not typical office computing.

well I hate <a href="http://www.popsci.com/popsci/computers/article/0,12543,230272-1,00.html"; target="_blank">Popular Science</a>; they tested an iMac against a $3400 Sony MX in a head to head competition, and then preferred the MX because it had PhotoShop elements on it to touch up pictures (they said that iPhoto didn't have enough in the way of brightness controls). Even though they had to admit that in most other areas, the iMac was far easier to use. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Yes, but would the ibm pc exist if it wasn't for the Apple 2? I don't think so. The INFLUENCE of the mac and apple on the office should be enough to get them some recognition. For heavens sakes, they mention coed bathrooms, dilbert, a movie, and a comic strip on that same section. But no Apple.

Popular science used to be ok. I picked up a set of ones from 97 and they seemed to have a pro Apple attitude then. It's hardly fair of them to compare an iMac to a PC that's twice as expensive. Besides, does any other PC come standard with elements?

Same here...they should have evened out the $1600 price diff with PS 7, decent sound system, etc, or just gotten a PowerMac

Crazy bastards...testing a consumer machine against an expensive high end one...what pricks.

And Wozniak and Jobs were influenced by the Altair when they built the Apple I. Where is the recognition for the Altair? It's just like if they did a write up about automobiles they would probally put up Henry Ford and his assembly line but not the people who built the first couple of cars years before.

Would me using an PowerMac instead of an iMac change your view of me? Maybe me being a portable man with an iBook or PowerBook would help you formulate how to respond to my point of view?

Uh, no Eskimo, I just wanted to know what kind of Mac you used. Seriously. I've noticed you (and groverat) never talk about your Macs that I've seen. I've actually been meaning to ask you for a little while now.

Sorry if my question upset you. Sheesh.

That's because Eskimo and groverat don't use Macs.
