Except all of those products you mentioned were selling and profitable or didn't exist EXCEPT wearable smart watches.
Enough said. Go back to your drawing board.

Tablets were selling and profitable before iPad?

Read anything other than an Apple-Fanboy site and you will read unbiased facts about the Apple Watch.  It will be expensive, it duplicates the functions of the iPhone, it requires an iPhone, it will only work with an iPhone, do people need a duplicate tech device, will Apple be able to convince someone to spend $350 for a device that does nothing more than an iPhone?  Will people buy a device that requires recharging daily, or may run out of battery life with heavy use in a few hours?  If you believe people should be banned for their opinion, then move to a third-world country with a dictator.

There were no touchscreen phones before the iPhone.  The iPhone was never doomed.

For facts about the Watch, I'd go to apple.com and not non-fanboy sites.

    As for iPhone is doomed:

That's how I envisioned this working when it was still a rumour. Unlike the horrible experience with Apple Stores inside a Best Buy, I can picture how jewelry stores would want to carry the two upper tiers to gain more foot traffic. Same goes for department stores that could carry all three or a variety. Smaller clothing stores that could the two lower tiers. Sporting good stores ?„watch Sport.

I can also see jewelry stores potentially being Apple Certified for installing a new S-series SiP (which is a solution I'm hoping Apple announces, but I don't have high hopes for).

This is really a lot of new ground for Apple. They've had to go far outside their safety zone to build and market this product properly, and so far I think they are doing a great job (even though I have no intention of buying one at this time).

It will be interesting to see how Apple markets this product. I'm really fascinated by it all.

It better look and feel better in person than it photographs- that's all I got to say.

Or what? You'll complain even more?

The iPad is the exception however there was a huge pre-release interest for the iPad.

The marketing research for the pre- AWatch release has been a big-MEH?

And the iPad was and is a thing a beauty while this ugly bauble is not.

I'm certainly more fascinated by the new product category logistics, this being a very different path for Apple (even more so than Macs to iPod or iPod to iPhone), and this being the first new product category under Cook as CEO, than I am about the product at this point. But I felt the same way about the first iMacs, and the iPod.

They'll let users market it. Real life uses beats theoretical uses.

"Android" shipped a watch? Huh? Who is "Android?" Yes, Google made a half-assed Android based wearable OS so they can be "first". They didn't have to ship any hardware. The OEMs took care of making that junk.  Your point?  Also, would you have preferred the Apple Watch be leaked by the FCC? Apple revealed it on their own terms, which gave them the freedom to continue working on it without being so fucking paranoid, and also to prepare devs. It was the perfect time to reveal it. They will obviously have another event with unannounced features and finalized details before the launch.

Well, some people like the Android watches. To each his or her own.

10 million in the first year would be the fastest selling Apple product in its history.

Can you explain? Both the iPhone and iPad did over 10 million in the first year.

Lets make a bet Mr pazuzu.

If Apple sells 10 million Watches in its first 12 months of release you will ban yourself for 1 month. If they dont I'll ban myself for 1 month. 10 million in the first year would be the fastest selling Apple product in its history. So will you put your money where your mouth is or are you just hot air? If you dont accept my challange then we will know your true motivation.

Riddle me this: First you say you wonder what my true intentions are but then you hint you know my motivation? All while propositioning me with a blackmail scheme? Wow- are you rich! <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

    Sounds tempting- demented but temping.

Iphone sold about 7 million its first year and ipad 14 million. So 10 million is a massive amount. So if you think its going to be a failure this should be an easy bet to make.

    Without China. I'm no fool.

No you're comparing Apple with Oranges- skewed statistics. Your including China in your 10 million whereas both iPad and iPhone did not include and thus exponentially a much bigger success. Exclude it and I'm in.

How can you have a "sports watch" that isn't waterproof- no- make that water resistant?  You have to take it off every time you get in a shower! Apple needs to call it- "near- water resistant".

This thing get more laughable the more I read about it.

You not taking the bet is just proof you know its going to be a smash hit.

Exclude China and he's in. Why won't you exclude China?
