Nice but is Gigabit Ethernet overkill for the Desktop?

Is anyone here running a Gigabit LAN? If so what's the transfer rate of your LAN?

Well, Apple seems to think so. Gigabit Ethernet is standard on PowerMacs and PowerBooks. They are 10/100/1000, so they can run on any network in place right now, and any network that will be in plce for the next several years.
