Wouldn't be surprised if those displays in the store play targeted ads.

"Cialis can do wonders..." when a 46-year-old white male walks in.

Lets be honest, the 46 year old white male wouldn't need cialis if you replaced his fat wife with a 19 year old.

If google gets into retail, wall street and investors should crucify the stock value. They are an ad company not a retailer, and Google already wastes lots of investors money with all their no go pet projects.

I like how they are positioning this as a billboard for google not a selling outlet, they are trying to keep wall street from pounding them on trying to get into the retail business. They could come in direct competitions with many of their ad customers if they try to sell.

When I saw the headline I expected Google to have user and demographic information available for advertisers to purchase. "For sale: list of adult male console gamers in English-speaking countries between 18-35 with a median income of $55K, unmarried and renting who like showing off the latest Android phones."

Well at least it doesn't look like a Apple Store!!!  Still what all does Google Actually make and sell?  I guess Chromecast?  All the Phones and computers just run their OS, and yet they need a store to promote everyone else?  Not that it matters.  It's be just as empty as Samsung and Microsoft stores.

    Nexus phones, and tablets.

Just wait... in six months this "store" will quietly disappear... Google then resorting to it being a "beta" project.

So unpersonal, so boring and bland.
What are they going to sell? Personal data?
Or maybe try to recycle the Google Q.

C'mon, everyone knows Googs doesn't sell user data. They sell access to it. I Imagine they'll have a room with all the user data and allow access to it for a fee.

Why wouldn't I? I've posted a lot of things here that neither Apple nor Android users are generally aware of.

Google's "tech support" is absolutely atrocious.

I just cancelled an Google Apps account, they then invoiced me a $50 "cancellation fee" even though there was absolutely no indication or warning when I was cancelling the account. It's also completely absurd, since the charges were happening monthly ($5/m). After spending a shitload of time trying to actually find a number to call, it was impossible to actually speak to someone without entering a PIN- a pin you can ONLY receive if you're using a "premium service" which I had just cancelled. Fucking ridiculous. I've also wanted to contact Google in the past for other things (ie. Google business pages, etc) but again, it's nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone, if you can actually find the relevant phone #.  Really horrendous "service".

Wow, so now we'll have a brick & mortar store for having your identity stolen and your privacy compromised. How convenient! I suppose they'll have fingerprint readers, iris scanners, DNA sample kits, on-staff genealogists, and tracking chip implantation technicians. Free credit scores too, just bring a copy of your bank statements and paycheck stubs from the last six months just in case the Google staff doesn't already have your complete financial history on file.

Walk-ins welcome. No appointment is necessary.

The main number for support is 1 (650) 253-0000, Hit 5 and then 3. I'd sure give it a shot to see if they can connect you with someone to help with your cancellation fee. At least they should explain why the fee and where you agreed to it.

Yep, they're like completely different areas... Tottenham Court Road is the dodgy end of Oxford Street.

Interestingly, there's a Samsung store a minute or two in the Oxford Circus direction on the opposite side of the road.  I don't think anybody really cares, and it doesn't take much share of my mind.

According to the AI article it's not a store anyway, and Google isn't renting a retail area. The space is owned by and the sales made by Dixon's Carphone.

    Quote:
"Dixons Carphone CEO Sebastian James elaborated that the Shop is "billboarding" for Google, and not being rented out. "

The actual "Google store" is an on-line one only. They aren't setting up retail storefronts at the moment despite what some newspaper or blog might be erroneously reporting (perhaps for the clicks)

To take a look at the Google Store" to see what they actually offer for sale visit
