I think it must bust the balls of the far right that the most successful company in the world is now a left leaning company that acts with a moral fortitude not seen in the likes of a Walmart, Exxon, Verizon...
Ever hear of Jon Huntsman, Sr? He's not exactly a leftist. Walmart also hires a ton of veterans and is dumping hundreds of billions into American manufacturing, there are numerous small businesses owned by conservatives that do a lot of good, etc.
Apple's not as left-leaning as people like to think. Jobs was more of a libertarian than a liberal, especially in his later years (railing against teachers unions isn't exactly a hallmark of the Democratic Party), and Apple's current personal privacy stand is contrary to what the Democratic Party (and too many of the Republicans) currently pushes and does.
He wants to be a politician; go and be one! We won't miss you at the keynotes. And I don't want to see you wasting my time and other shareholders' time with Jesse Jackson ever again.
What really stood out for me at the keynote was the fact that Cook didn't demo the Apple Watch. That sums up the feeling one gets from Cook; he's always one stage divorced from the products. It’s such a contrast to Jobs, where you felt that the products Apple made were his baby; he took personal responsibility for their success. He announced the price of the iPad with such aplomb and humour. Then, the other day, we got Cook embarrassingly mumbling the price of the $10,000 Apple Watch Edition.
Cook wore the watch, yet never used it, once. Not even some quirky little phone call with Ive? No. Instead, a dry, confusing demo from Kevin Lynch.
In short: it’s the lack of focus that is spelling worrying times, from the bug-ridden iOS to the Gadget without a Cause, the Apple Watch.
I hope you realize you're criticizing Cook's work in the comment section of a shareholder's meeting summary. He is blowing away every record set by Jobs or any modern company in existence for that matter. If you don't like his style or the fact that he doesn't do witty FaceTime conversations wih Jony Ive on stage, you can have that opinion all to yourself because we all know if he did those very things you would only criticize him for riding his former CEO's coat tails. So he has two choices, change nothin about the Apple you loved or make Apple his own. Seems he and everyone has made the choice just to infuriate you.
He wants to be a politician; go and be one! We won't miss you at the keynotes. And I don't want to see you wasting my time and other shareholders' time with Jesse Jackson ever again.

The real Libertarian Party also has left leaning wing (maybe not in this day & age). What escapes some people is that most people may hold different views on different issues and not necessarily tow the party line on all issues. John Huntsman was one of those politicians...a moderate. He also worked in the Obama Administration. Both made his candidacy dead in the water in todays Republican Party. Why do you suppose that is?
A month after dropping out of the race, Huntsman offered the opinion that there was a need for a third party in America. In an appearance on the MSNBC talk show Morning Joe on February 23, 2012, Huntsman said that a third party would be a healthy development in the presidential election process.
I think we’re going to have problems politically until we get some sort of third party movement or some voice out there that can put forth new ideas. Someone’s going to step up at some point and say we’ve had enough of this. The real issues are not being addressed and it’s time that we put forward an alternative vision, a bold thinking. We might not win, but we can certainly influence the debate.
Huntsman said he was not throwing his own hat in the ring as a third party presidential candidate in 2012.
The Republican National Committee reacted by withdrawing an invitation for Huntsman to appear as a speaker at a Republican fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, in early March. In early July, Huntsman announced that he would not be attending the 2012 Republican National Convention for the first time since he attended as a Reagan delegate in 1984. Huntsman issued a statement chiding the Republican Party for what he perceived as its failures to focus on the daunting socio-economic issues facing America.
I will not be attending this year's convention, nor any Republican convention in the future until the party focuses on a bigger, bolder, more confident future for the United States — a future based on problem solving, inclusiveness, and a willingness to address the trust deficit, which is every bit as corrosive as our fiscal and economic deficits.
problem is even if I put ButtFace on ignore I still see posts where posters have replied to him quoting his original troll posts
1) No name calling, please
2) I also see posts from blocked posters in my unread subscriptions if they are they last one to post. Not exactly an ignore list if they are still in my Subscription list.

The meeting sounded fantastic other than for the Jesse "where's the camera" Jackson
hmm, I thought Kevin Lynch's demo was very good, telling a rather smooth and compelling story. Cook doesn't have SJ's charisma but did a good job of sharing the limelight with his lieutenants. I do miss Jobs's intensity.
Interesting to read your take on Lynch as I thought there were others who would have been better suited for the task. But, we all take in info in different ways, and like different styles - glad to hear that you enjoyed his demo as it means others most likely did as well.
I always enjoy seeing the closet racists come out of the woodwork with their comments, any time there's a report of Cook meeting with Jesse Jackson or other civil rights figures.
I feel saddened living in the age where non-technology companies like Apple are leading in market capital, revenue and acquiring startups, where as real technology companies like Google and Facebook are lagging behind.
I do find the paradox interesting: donate to poor minority uneducated schools while producing products that those same folks generally cannot afford.
If the employees at apple want to contribute to various causes, just pay those employees more and see what they do with that money...
James Watson discovered quite some time ago that you can't correct IQ disparity with money. You might capture of few smart kids who otherwise would have "fallen through the cracks" but you won't save everyone.
How many people know folks that had great suburban education opportunities that squandered it? Was this a lack of funds? Or... Perhaps some kids are either not smart enough or modivated enough?
Why do we keep trying to solve genetic disparities with money? It doesn't work... I have money and I can't memorize 100 digits in a row, get past a certain level of math, nor do I have extreme art talent even though I wish it. I can't buy myself motivation to execute on ideas even though I wish I could. I also wish I could stay awake 2 more hours of the day so I can do more... I am decent at what I do but no amount of money is going to bump my IQ another 10 points.
A signifcant portion of the human race, drew the "short straw", particularly where the current environment is concerned. People are NOT going to pay more for inferior products, ideas, performance, or whatever. When are folks going to "get" this.
On the other hand, people love hope (otherwise known as wishes), so apple's Idealism will SELL. Their wishful thinking is EXACTLY what the public wants and needs. Evolution is for the animals, humans can live on hopes and dreams.
Apple products = pure love. Buy it if you love the environment, recycling, gay people, straight people, various races, castes, religion, capitalism, socialism, creativity, the poor, the rich, disease... Whatever. There's an app for that. The business model is pure crazy.
The only thing missing is apple watch faces that go with a particular "cause". Maybe a Goth Emo Education watch face? An HIV awareness watch face.
Pretty soon you will know based on their watch, if they are also into astronomy just like you... You walk buy another Andromeda lover in the airport and you get an alert...

Cook stays true to himself and doesn't try lo behave like someone he is not - he lets engineers who created this amazing product share the spotlight and do what Jobs used to do.

It’s clear that Cook is in the wrong job.

Tim Cook doesn't demo anything, ever.
How would not demonstrating yet another product "stand out"?
(What would stand out is if he did demo something)
