I'm on my third iphone 6plus. I have invested many genius desk and user forum trolling to get any of the three phones to work. After the 3rd phone froze during an important business call disconnecting the conference line, I decided to simply return the phone. I had made valiant attempts to get the phone to work. In the end, I am not allowed to return the phone because I spent time attempting to get it to work. I requested return beyond 14 days from purchase and, the "new phones" that i was provided at the genius desk were not "new phones" but "service phones" and those cannot be returned. My only options are to stick with service phones and continue to trouble shoot. I cannot even receive a "new" "new phone" as the 4th phone.

This, of course, took many hours of sorting out. And I have many more to go.

I paid $1200 for my phone and AppleCare. My phone does not work reliably as a phone, nor does it reliably allow me to do work that requires switching between apps.

We may be able to get Apple to change their Customer Relations protocols for better resolutions. We need to use the often asserted power of social media.

i know many people with 6+ , and there are 2 -of them in my home 128GB type.

Which confirms out of your sample size that no problems exist. Check.

A number of iPhone 6 Plus users have reported an issue in which the phone inexplicably crashes or enters a reboot loop, prompting many to take it in to Apple for service, where it is usually swapped out for a new unit. Some owners are on their fourth replacement 6 Plus.

Multiple owners have reported identical crashing problems on Apple's Support Communities forum, with one thread now standing at more than 9,000 views and 60 replies.

The exact trigger has yet to be discovered, though 6 Plus owners posting to the thread claim to have nailed down a few commonalities: 128GB iPhone 6 Plus is the most affected model; apps installed number at more than 700; and crashes can occur without user interaction. Some pin the trouble on hardware as Apple's recent iOS 8.1 update did not fix the issue, though others believe software is to blame.

At first, it was thought that restoring from a previous iPhone image carried over faulty app settings or incompatible apps, but this theory was seemingly debunked after multiple attempts to restore phones as new before adding on apps manually failed. This does not rule out individual app incompatibility with iOS 8, but with so many apps in question, testing and cross-checking results would be extremely difficult.

Some forum members and AppleInsider readers have taken their 6 Plus in to an Apple Store for assessment. In some cases, Geniuses exchange the non-functional unit, while others have been told to hold on to their phone as their repair ticket escalates up the tech support chain of command. Few have reported success with new iPhone 6 Plus replacements.

As for workarounds, some are seeing varying success in restoring the phone as new, then manually installing each previously purchased app one-by-one. However, as mentioned above, a good number of owners have tried this tactic to no avail. Manually reinstalling purchased apps is a time consuming process and seemingly does not provide a surefire solution to the problem. In fact, some forum members say the fix only lasts for a few minutes before the phone once again enters into a crash cycle.

Interestingly, others have found that turning on the Display Zoom function sometimes helps alleviate crashes, but the method is far from a proven fix.

As of this writing, the number of owners affected by the crashing issue is unknown. The number of views on each Support Communities thread suggest the issue is not widespread. However, if current speculation is correct and the problem is linked to 128GB iPhone 6 Plus owners who have expansive app libraries, the relatively low number of reported cases may not be indicative of the issue's severity.

Apple has not yet officially commented on the matter and does not have policies in place to deal with incoming repairs at Apple Stores. AppleInsider has reached out and will update this story when a reply is received.

It's now almost 6 months later and the problem grows. I have had this as an increasing problem since I got the iPhone 6 plus 128 GB. It's now reached the point where I can't even type very long before the keyboard locks up. Many apps just shit down in the middle of using them and I lose all work. Even as I write this it is a stinking struggle to even complete one sentence. I don't have time to deal with a dysfunctional phone like this. I don't know what solution Apple has come up with because the discussion seems to begin and end in October 2014. One possible solution for future sales are reports that along with the 6s, the newly built 6 plus will have 2GB RAM instead of the measely one GB in the current phones. It should have been obvious to Apple that one GB was inadequate for a phone with all the capabilities of a tablet. I intend to pursue this with Apple and if it does turn out to be the RAM problem, I'm going to be asking for the phone to be replaced with the 2 GB model. It's not me who designed a phone that's cheap on the RAM. Apple was negligent and if it requires a class action suit like the defective MacBook Pro took to be resolved, they need look no further than at me to be the one to get the suit going. I paid a lot of money for this phone and expect the company who is flush with billions of dollars of cash from these defective phones to be responsible to take care of their errors. I don't think Microsoft in all their years of taking the lead was ever so anti-consumer as Apple.

9000 views mean absolutely NOTHING. 60 replies out of probably 15 million iPhone 6s by now. And this is now an issue? And I just love the bullshit extrapolation at the end of this bullshit article.

Have you returned the original for a replacement? Due to accidental damage I've had two 128GB 6 Pluses (3,865 songs, 70 videos, 9.034 photos, 157 apps, about half full) and never experienced anything as you describe. Perhaps rather than some mythical "1 GB" issue you've simply got a defective unit. it happens.

I understand where stephen714 is coming from. I have had this problem since iOS 7.0 on an iPhone 5S 64GB, iPad 3 64GB (or was it 128GB?), iPhone 6 128GB (x2, since I convinced the Apple Store to replace my original one because of this issue), and my iPad Air 128 GB (x2, which I which I replaced because I cracked the corner of my screen). My wife now has the iPhone 5S, and it never crashes (much fewer apps than when I had it). The iPhone 6 now only crashes very rarely, but it still crashes. I sold the iPad 3, and never heard again from the buyer, so I don't know if it crashes. My iPad Air was crashing every day or so, but now it is crashing less frequently since I updated to iOS 8.2 and now 8.3 beta. However, I have also noticed that restoring the iOS device (or getting a new one) seems to alleviate the problem briefly before it commences again.

As I mentioned above, these problems started with iOS 7.0 and rendered my iPhone 5S almost unusable. I don't think either my iPhones or iPad crashed before 7.0. With 7.0, even pre-installed Apple apps were crashing (Message, Safari, Phone), and I was not the only one complaining of this problem online. Things improved dramatically with 7.1, but my iPad has always had more crashes (more apps). The Geniuses at the Apple Store recommended that I start from scratch and reinstall the apps one by one, but as I have over 1000 apps organized in folders, I wasn't about waste time doing this. Fortunately the problem appears to have gotten somewhat better with each iOS update so I can tolerate it. But it is not the crash-free experience I had from the iPhone 3GS and original iPad all the way to the start of iOS 7.0.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. What's happening is that iOS is caching data to the flash that cannot be deleted. Stream music, and it takes up space but cannot be deleted. The only way to remove it is to restore the device.

Not the only way. There is software on the market for both Mac and Windows that will reclaim the space lost to "other."

Apps are quit, but their preferences remain. And those have to be managed at a system level or the OS won't have anything to load. How do you know those preference files aren't corrupting the operating system? The fact is that you can't just load 700 apps and not expect the OS to have absolutely no knowledge or interaction with the apps, otherwise they would just be non-executable data.
It just seems that as iOS gets more mature, there would be resolution of old problems without the introduction of new problems. My 4S running 7 has never to this day had one problem. iPhone was new to me then and I accumulated an unecessary number of apps. They did not cause any problems on the 4S and I don't think it's too much to expect a newer phone (my 6 Plus) with 128 GB storage would perform equally well if not better. When all is running well, it's a remarkable work of art but I did just receive my third replacement. Each phone has had different problems. I'm not convinced it's hardware although even 8.4 update did not resolve anything. Both Apple and Verizon were clueless and each, after a small amount of software troubleshooting decided the phone should be replaced. I can only guess that's the cheaper option to spending a lot of tech support time dealing with it. Through it all my 4S keeps running without any problem.
