Yes, the ironic thing is that no one over the age of 50 can drive the damn thing because they find it hard to use the iDrive thing. You spend more time concentrating on the iDrive than actually driving the thing, according to my uncle, who knows his stuff.

Boring design too, IMHO. Chris Bangle, who came from Ford, designed it, and the BMW faithful hate it.

Ya the new 7 series licks balls. It really doesn't look that good. Neither does the MB S-Class. No matter how many changes and re-designs they make, nothing has yet been able to match the class and presteige of the XJ8. Hell, I'd even take the parents' S-Type over the 745i.

I like the looks of the Mercedes-Benz C, E, SL, and M Classes. And I like the BMW 3, X, and M Series. Anyway, I went to Best Buy today and I think I'm gonna go with the Canon ZR40. I don't need digital still picture support. And honestly don't care for the size of the Sony cams. I just don't like the way it feels in my hand. Plus $600 is more reasonable v. $1000. For $1000, I'd rather buy an iBook for a few hundred more. With the money left over, I could buy a S200 Digital Elph which would have much better picture quality anyway.

None of those Sony cams I mentioned are over $1000. I don't know why you're making the $600 vs $1000 comparison.

    TRV-18 = $700

    TRV-25 = $770

    TRV-27 = $900

Oh sorry I was talking about the best buy price. I know it sucks to pay more at a store but I like the fact that if something goes wrong, within two years, they will give you a brand new one.

So let me get this straight, you are making less than $150 per week and owe $3000. While you are supposedly paying this off, you are buying a MiniDV camera.

And you don't need digital still support because you are getting a pricey still camera for your birthday.

But you aren't rich because your parents arent buying you a Benz for your 16th birthday.

Comparison: I'm 17 (a month away from 18) and I would consider my family not rich but well off. We have some debt because we just remodeled our house. I have a well paying summer job that makes me about $150 per weekend. I inherited my dad's PowerBook G3/233 when he got a TiBook 550 for his 50th birthday from his parents (who are rich). My mom does a lot of 2D graphics work (mostly Illustrator/Photoshop) and uses a G4-upgraded B&W G3. I drive an 11-year-old Toyota Corolla with 175k miles. I recently got an iPod with the money I got from my tax return.

I'm not rich. I'm well off. My grandfather who bought the TiBook for my dad is rich. He gets a new car (upscale, he likes Acuras) every two years or so and we buy their oldest car for a good price (just got a five year old Accord w/ 30k miles for $10k). He bought a brand new G4/733, 22" cinema display, and new TiBook, and Airport. He doesn't need all that. He just likes being cutting edge.

However, I think whether you're rich or not doesn't depend on how much expensive stuff you have, it depends on how much expensive stuff you're looking to buy. I was pretty rich for my age before I got my iPod. Now I'm well off. iPods tend to drain the finances a bit. But I still have a car, a computer, an iPod, and over $900 in the bank. And a full ride scholarship for next year.

No preston. I owe money on my computer. I'm going to be making over $150 this summer. And NO my parents are not getting me anything expensive for my birthday period. I asked for a $100 mini CD Player for my bday cuz they won't buy the digital cam.
