We already have streaming video apps that take control of your iOS device that force the user to watch sponsored content before playing the chosen video.
We put up with those useless click-through screens that few people read, before getting into our applications, or indeed, before even being allowed to use our phones.
Fingerprinting is mandatoryl before being able to use Apple-Pay.
What about the notion that it may be dangerous to use certain health related apps that have not been provided key up-front information (or regular calibration)?
Sure, we might be able to vote with our feet in some cases, like not using those video feeds or shunning Apple-Pay, but if we want the functionality we generally have to put up with what might be considered negative aspects of the technology.
All I'm saying is that, of course, the mandatory aspects can be taken to extremes, but the concept of limiting user-choice has its place and is fundamental in certain circumstances.

The fact that this post got 3 "Thumbs Up" demonstrates just how ignorant some people choose to remain. It takes very little thought process to understand that these "required" inputs are set up by YOU, and have nothing to do with what Apple "mandates."
People may have very good intentions when taking the first step, but can be dismissive when it's time to do the work. The point of this invention is to give people the CHOICE of not allowing themselves to fall by the wayside. This is the best known way of developing habits or even unlearning bad habits.
Jumping to the conclusion that Apple just wants to force you to do something is asinine. A little education (reading) can go a long in your understanding of things.

I understand the concept and the user impact Apple wants to achieve.
I have an issue with degrees of "control", I will tolerate only so much.
I love Apple products, have many and understand the functionality of their eco system.
I wouldn't assume this would be enabled by default. If this ever comes to pass it will surely be opt-in.

Not everyone is a diabetic and will want insulin reminders.
Not everyone is fat and will want "you need to go for a walk" or "you need to weigh yourself" reminders.
