What is that new font they are using for the eMac and Real People campaigns? If it is not a standard font, does anybody have it available that I could get it from?

The typeface is Lucida Sans. It also happens to be the System font for OS X.

    It isn't Lucida Sans...

    It is Myriad® Roman

    Get it here:

That's close, but not quite it. Noitice how the 'M' on Apple's page is shightly angled outwards as its sides go down, but neither Lucida Sans nor Lucida Grande do this. Also, the quotation marks are completely different.

    Any ideas?

Like Apple Garamond, there's a very good chance that it's a bit of a tweaked, custom typeface. Perhaps it uses Lucida or some other clean, sans serif font as a jumping off point.

But some of the features and pieces are a bit altered. Probably one of those "can't get your paws on it unless you work at Apple or Chiatt/Day..." kind of things.

FERRO is quite right. That font is Myriad Roman. If you purchase Adobe Photoshop, Myriad is included with the install.

I just can't help but wonder why Apple's co-opting Adobe's font. Of course I can't see the grand scheme of things, but to me, they're watering down their corporate identity. Apple Garamond and Helvetica have been the standard for ages, and it has always been appropriate and in style. I can't fathom why they've decided to introduce a third font into the melee. If they've really decided to overhaul their corporate ID, then just do it. The random application of the new font is making my head hurt. Myriad for the eMac... AG for the new iBook, Myriad for the new ad campaign, AG for the Xserve....ahh just pick already.
