Apple Watch is now available to try on at Apple Store locations in Australia and East Asia, and while preorders have not yet gone live, a number of customers are posting photos and video from their sessions.

As with previous Apple product launches -- although in this case customers can only look, not buy -- Australians get first crack at Apple Watch hardware. A number of customers who were able to score a try-on reservation posted images of the session on various social media networks.

Starting today, customers around the world will be able to get their hands on Apple's much anticipated watch. Apple is conducting 15-minute try-on meetings by reservation only and will start preorders later tonight.

Customers interested in Apple Watch Edition models, which start at $10,000, get special treatment that includes 30 minutes of hands-on time with the device. However, only 53 Apple Stores will initially have sample stock of the solid gold models, with current availability focused on densely populated urban centers.

Apple Watch goes on sale on Friday at 12:01 a.m. Pacific via the Online Apple Store. Those looking to buy an Apple Watch can refer to AppleInsider's purchasing guide to help streamline the decision making process.

The 42mm size looks to be too large for most people.

Some Aussie posters on MacRumors are saying the watches look smaller than they expected.

There's worse things, like the fact that we massacre each other on a daily basis and are raping the planet. Oh, and some of us spend all our days on internet forums hating on gadgets from a certain comapny.

You are the primitive one who thinks this is simply a watch

Then why name it a watch?

It's also pretty neat that many of these ape descended life forms don't recognise a quote from what Wikipedia will eventually become.

    Just remember chaps, "don't panic"

Airtight logic there, sir. It's not like they named the iPhone, the iPhone, right?

Back then the phone part was indeed a primary function, so the naming made sense. Airtight all the way.

So what would YOU name it, wise guy? It goes on the wrist. It quacks like a duck. So call it a watch, for convenience sake, for familiarity sake. Simple.

It's NOT utterly insignificant. It's our home.

We're NOT descended from apes. That was a Darwinian misconception which too many stupid people swallowed.

The ?Watch IS a neat idea which will prove itself, not to the knuckle draggers, but to the enlightenable souls who can simply look at something and perceive its usefulness which will only increase over time.

Be creative, like with the iPod, and iPad. They spent years designing it, and after all that time the best name they could come up with was Apple Watch?
