ThePixelDoc's post was fantastic and hit all the major points.

I have one small point of disagreement, however.  There are some women in the industry these days who are major players, work on their own and often because of their own earnings in the past.  Sure the adult film industry is dominated by men, in general, just like the regular film industry.

But otherwise I agree with every point you made.

Oh, I also have this to say:  I get the impression that a lot of the people commenting in this thread have never actually met or talked to adult stars.  Guys:  Everything you read on the InterWebs can't exactly be taken at face value.  Someone who has worked in an industry can give you a better idea of what it's like than can someone from the "700 Club" who, for example, claimed that Hurricane Katrina happened because America was evil.

    I mean really?

ETA: Oh, and to add, about the top-selling books ... I'm not sure those are necessarily all that steamy.  Nicholas Sparks certainly isn't, and his stuff is DEFINITELY not porn.  I have a feeling the others are similar.  But they love throwing those covers onto stuff.

Sounds like the author just needed an assignment to turn in. This has allot fluff. It's not hypocrisy. And porn vs what HBO and Cinemax exhibit is not the hard core material you see online. Moving forward....zzzzZ

I think Apple should allow porn on the App Store and everything else.

HBO Now is on Apple TV, and Game of Thrones LITERALLY has porn in it. There is like a 10-15 min lesbian porn scene in one of the episodes. Not to mention all of the other sex scenes in GoT.

We should have the freedom to watch what we want, and parents should have the brains to prevent their children from having access to erotic content by enabling parental controls.

And besides, stuff happens. There's a war to carry out. I support the US troops. I don't support the dirtbags that they are fighting.

I did not know 5-year old children were "dirtbags" or "terrorists" now - the fact of the matter is: it is easy to support your criminal "troops" when their dirty deeds are done far away from home; or even better: when bombs are thrown from the comfort of a computer-assisted room.

So **** them and **** you for supporting such cowards.

I'm glad for Apple's smut controls, personally.

What a surprise that the same sort of person who was defending Fiorina's attack against Tim Cook and Apple for speaking out against discrimination is the sort of person who thinks sex is dirty and porn must be banned.

If anything it has highlighted for us what an amazing service Netflix is both in content and price.

I gotta ask... what do you consider to be great shows on cable TV?

The latter are increasing without any stop in sight because people crave violence and are ashamed about seeing a nude body (at least publicly). The only way each of every one of you were brought to this world was through sex but my hope is that the vast majority of you will not leave this world through the violence portrayed on TV and movies.

For those embarrased by nudity, change changes. I'm embarrassed by Fox News so I change channels but I allow people to view content others feel violates their well being. And as for protecting children, give me a break. Most of the TV shows on during the normal time children area awake are filled with trash and things no child should be exposed to. The government can only regulate so much, parents needs to regulate how their children are raised.

I find it hilarious how some self imposed morality policemen are shocked at the supposed depravity of a woman's exposed breast in a movie or TV show while thinking nothing of extreme violence - both in fiction and in day to day life.

They don't to seem to have a problem loading the iTunes Store with gay porn films. Totally disgusting and totally hypocritical.

[@]AaronJ[/@] - Thank You! I really did give it a good go so your appreciation means a bit. I forgot to add to my post that the book and the videos are from 2009-2010 with a lot of data scraping done before that. Some women have made it since then, although I'm still not impressed with the productions... nor of the women making the films. If I'm not mistaken, its only a few Vivid and Wicked renegade girls making the same kind of plastic 'gonzo' The Valley is famous for. Personally I can't stand to see a minute of it... but I respect their right to produce and sell it.

[@]Adam_Apple[/@] - Game of Thrones "literally" and surely does NOT contain any porn whatsoever! Some prolonged scenes of Adult Erotica, many of which contain taboo subjects... and a heck of a lot of OBSCENE violence!

Speaking of taboos: one of the top male fantasies worldwide is to be in bed with 2 women, that also partake of each others charms while Waldo is taking a breather. Just a few years ago the entire world was turned on in a Fantasy Frenzy by a simple suggestive kiss between Brittney and Madonna. Almost every single hetero porn title ever produced includes at least ONE girl-girl scene for a reason: because guys like it! A heck of a lot of girls too actually, considering there are more women that consider themselves bi than men.

    [@]freediverx[/@] - Absolutely 100% agree!

[@]Nightsky[/@] - so what's disgusting you? The double standard... or because it's gay oriented?

Disclaimer: I know more about this theme than I'm willing to go into detail here. However, a couple of tips. If you want to see really great erotic "porn", look up Peter Hegre (massage series!), Dane Jones, and Art of X. European aesthetics with real people and real love-making. None of this truly horrid and demeaning misogynistic SoCal gonzo crap... whether it's made by men, women or monkeys it's all SH*T!

Yeah, for the most part you're right about the Wicked and Vivid stuff, though there are women who really produce the hell out of various BDSM stuff.  But yeah, while I think Stormy Daniels, for instance, is a cool person, I'm not really into watching her productions.

I find it hard to believe this ridiculous editorial could make it past the person who approves such things.

There is no porn, soft porn, any porn on HBO. Are you trying to create controversy where there is none just to draw attention to yourself Sam Oliver?

I especially like "There's nothing wrong with porn, of course." as if your opinion is the end all to settle that for humanity.

This is the kind of crap editorial that belongs on some PC'centric website or blog because you are an Idiot.

Censoring apps differently than other things is a conscious Apple decision. They do that on purpose. The app guidelines specifically state that other types of media won't be treated the same.

    From the App Store Guidelines:

"We view Apps different than books or songs, which we do not curate. If you want to criticize a religion, write a book. If you want to describe sex, write a book or a song, or create a medical App. It can get complicated, but we have decided to not allow certain kinds of content in the App Store."

This article is so wrong, the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy called and wondered if Earthlings had decided to redefine the word "wrong" to mean "completely round the bend about what porn even is." Was the author of this article raised in a convent or something?

For starters: HBO isn't the first thing you could buy on iTunes that had boobs and buts on it. There's this thing called movies, perhaps you should check those out on the iTunes Store. PLENTY of R-rated material and even full frontal there, and has been for years. Apps that use or show nudes for anatomy, human sexuality courses, artistic masterpieces. Tons of those as well.

Second: nudity %u2260 porn. Simulated sex %u2260 porn. Boobs and butts %u2260 porn. Erotica %u2260 porn. The shows you refer to on HBO are, simply, not porn. Porn is actual sex. Porn is close-ups on aroused genitalia. Porn is X-rated. None of this is present in anything this article makes reference to.

Get some life experience, for heaven's sake, before you try to "titillate" readers by pretending there is porn on the iTunes Store. There isn't.

I think the author realizes a lot more than you think - and he has included the actual definition of "porn" from Websters dictionary - which differs wildly from your "life experience".

I tend to agree with your definition as well - but that's not the *real* definition nor the definition Apple uses when evaluating apps.

I'm on the fence on this issue. I don't think there's anything wrong with an adult enjoying an adult movie - but just like a department store is allowed to determine which items it offers for sale - Apple should be afforded the same right and therefore are well within their rights to decide what they will and won't carry even if the decision is inconsistent.

This is much ado about nothing.

Apple will NEVER let the App Store nor the Mac App Store be riddled with Porn.  Period.

Apple serves a global market.  So it has to be sensitive to  it and each region.

And Porn clearly is unacceptable to the vast majority of customers for Apple.

As Apple stated, they don't want parents having to see their kids watching Porn on an app on iOS.

    Certain exceptions, however, are allowed.

HBO, for example, is such an exception.

    1. HBO does serve Porn exclusively.  The vast majority of its content is NOT Porn.

    2. In order to get HBO content, the customer HAS TO PAY for access.  So unless a parent gives un-fettered access to their credit card or HBO account to their kids, Kids won't have access to HBO.

    3. It takes parental approval to get any HBO content on their app. You have to pay for the content. There is no free teaser content like Playboy did with their app.

    4. HBO is limited to serving content to the U.S. and wherever else it has licensed the content. This means it won't be available in countries such as Saudi Arabia where Porn may be illegal.  Thus HBO is already limited to where it can serve Porn.

Again, this is much to do about nothing.

If anything, the article is simply about clickbait.

Given that these TV apps are available in the iOS App Store this isn't really news is it?
