I think Apple should allow porn on the App Store and everything else.
HBO Now is on Apple TV, and Game of Thrones LITERALLY has porn in it. There is like a 10-15 min lesbian porn scene in one of the episodes. Not to mention all of the other sex scenes in GoT.
We should have the freedom to watch what we want, and parents should have the brains to prevent their children from having access to erotic content by enabling parental controls.
Some of it is merely lies and enemy propaganda, and I bet that many of the so-called "victims" of certain alleged incidents of "collateral damage" were dirt bag terrorists and worthless enemy combatants who deserved to be eliminated as soon as possible. And besides, stuff happens. There's a war to carry out. I support the US troops. I don't support the dirtbags that they are fighting.
I did not know 5-year old children were "dirtbags" or "terrorists" now - the fact of the matter is: it is easy to support your criminal "troops" when their dirty deeds are done far away from home; or even better: when bombs are thrown from the comfort of a computer-assisted room.

What a surprise that the same sort of person who was defending Fiorina's attack against Tim Cook and Apple for speaking out against discrimination is the sort of person who thinks sex is dirty and porn must be banned.
As an aside, after a few days of the trial we are now pretty well convinced we won't bother keeping HBO Now past the trial. Game of Thrones doesn't do it for us (Lord of the Rings didn't either and it is equally convoluted) and I can't see needing HBO as well as Netflix. If anything it has highlighted for us what an amazing service Netflix is both in content and price.
I gotta ask... what do you consider to be great shows on cable TV?
The larger hypocrisy is that our Victorian upbringing shuns nudity while glamorizing military and killing in general. I don't remember the last time two nude ladies from Mars ever killed anyone or drew a drop of blood but you can see gory TVs shows during primetime including worthless acts of violence such as MMA "fights" (at any other time they would be put in jail for their actions), violent action movies (sorry Fast and Furious), and current and futuristic military movies showing people get blown to bits. The latter are increasing without any stop in sight because people crave violence and are ashamed about seeing a nude body (at least publicly). The only way each of every one of you were brought to this world was through sex but my hope is that the vast majority of you will not leave this world through the violence portrayed on TV and movies.
For those embarrased by nudity, change changes. I'm embarrassed by Fox News so I change channels but I allow people to view content others feel violates their well being. And as for protecting children, give me a break. Most of the TV shows on during the normal time children area awake are filled with trash and things no child should be exposed to. The government can only regulate so much, parents needs to regulate how their children are raised.
I find it hilarious how some self imposed morality policemen are shocked at the supposed depravity of a woman's exposed breast in a movie or TV show while thinking nothing of extreme violence - both in fiction and in day to day life.

Censoring apps differently than other things is a conscious Apple decision. They do that on purpose. The app guidelines specifically state that other types of media won't be treated the same.

This article is so wrong, the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy called and wondered if Earthlings had decided to redefine the word "wrong" to mean "completely round the bend about what porn even is." Was the author of this article raised in a convent or something?
For starters: HBO isn't the first thing you could buy on iTunes that had boobs and buts on it. There's this thing called movies, perhaps you should check those out on the iTunes Store. PLENTY of R-rated material and even full frontal there, and has been for years. Apps that use or show nudes for anatomy, human sexuality courses, artistic masterpieces. Tons of those as well.
Second: nudity %u2260 porn. Simulated sex %u2260 porn. Boobs and butts %u2260 porn. Erotica %u2260 porn. The shows you refer to on HBO are, simply, not porn. Porn is actual sex. Porn is close-ups on aroused genitalia. Porn is X-rated. None of this is present in anything this article makes reference to.

I don't think there's anything wrong with an adult enjoying an adult movie - but just like a department store is allowed to determine which items it offers for sale - Apple should be afforded the same right and therefore are well within their rights to decide what they will and won't carry even if the decision is inconsistent.
Apple will NEVER let the App Store nor the Mac App Store be riddled with Porn. Period.
Apple serves a global market. So it has to be sensitive to it and each region.
And Porn clearly is unacceptable to the vast majority of customers for Apple.
As Apple stated, they don't want parents having to see their kids watching Porn on an app on iOS.
Certain exceptions, however, are allowed.
HBO, for example, is such an exception.
1. HBO does serve Porn exclusively. The vast majority of its content is NOT Porn.
2. In order to get HBO content, the customer HAS TO PAY for access. So unless a parent gives un-fettered access to their credit card or HBO account to their kids, Kids won't have access to HBO.
3. It takes parental approval to get any HBO content on their app. You have to pay for the content. There is no free teaser content like Playboy did with their app.
4. HBO is limited to serving content to the U.S. and wherever else it has licensed the content. This means it won't be available in countries such as Saudi Arabia where Porn may be illegal. Thus HBO is already limited to where it can serve Porn.
Again, this is much to do about nothing.
If anything, the article is simply about clickbait.
