Big NO

I doubt I will even wake up early for the QT broadcast. It's 6am in the west.

I remember last year when I saw those amazing (for Steve) slowsilver and "new" iMacs I quitted the QT player immediately and went back to sleep.

I'll be atempting to go to both... but taking the train into the city 2 days in a row very early is going to suck... I'm trying to crash at a friend's house... we'll see

Once again, I won't be there. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get to the Palisades Apple Store to watch the keynote.

How is it that you guys from New York can't actually get to Macworld?

EmAn, I know you're young, but think of Macworld as 'an educational experience' (or are you at camp right now?)

Paul, it says you live in NYC. I don't know the hassle of taking the 'train' (by this do you mean subway?) in to Manhattan from wherever you live, but you're so close. Why can't you get there?

I also know that applenut (another NY guy) won't be there.

What's up with the AI regulars this year? Is no one planning on going to Macworld or the keynote besides me?

If I still lived in NY, I'd be there. Hell, I've been to every one in NY since it came down from Boston. I even want to a couple in Boston!!

However, this is the first year I'll probably miss it. Having just taken off a week for my honeymoon and being at a relatively new job, I don't think I can take another day off

Driving to NYC sucks. Parking is expensive and traffic is insane. My only options (coming from Philly) would be taking the train from Philly (2 hours and 40 bucks, I think) or driving to Hoboken, parking there and taking the PATH in. (is it still a buck or did they raise it?)

I'd do all that if I was more confident it wasn't going to be a big disappointment.

Last year's MacWorld really broke my heart.

Well this year I decided not to go to camp because I really don't want to. I would go to MWNY if my parents were home to drive me to Manhattan, but they'll both be working.

And with Paul I don't see why he wouldn't go if he could. He lives in Queens so it really is a quick train ride into Manhattan (or express bus). I'm sure he's got a good reason

And isn't applenut out in California now? I'm sure that's why he's not going.

Yeah, I knew about applenut already.

But EmAn, you live so close to NY! Why can't you just get on a bus/train (or whatever) and get to the Javitz center. I know you're somewhat young, but you can't find someone to go with you or go by yourself? It's a real shame if you have to miss it, being so close and all.

I'll be there as well. I've been to the '99 and '00 MWNY's. In '01 I was out of the country, but I can't wait to get back to the Javits center this year. Only a week or so left.

... and I'm even more excitied now that I have an airport card installed in the trusty ol' Pismo.

    Cheers!

We should all meet up and then go to my favorite speakeasy and get a drink on.

i'm going to this one. it'll be my first. i don't have a pass expensive enough for the keynote, but whatever... it sounds like it will be much fun.

i regret never making it to the ones in boston (i was usually away from home over the summer), but hopefully once the convention center is built, they'll come back. there was some report of that as a possibility a while back, due to nyc being so darned expensive.

either way, hopefully it's worth the effort for all of us going...

hehe sorry i confused you.. I AM going to MWNY... i was skeptical about catching the SoHo grand opening...

I walk 2 blocks to the LIRR, take the Port Wash line in to Penn, and then walk 2 blocks to Javits hopefully I will get on the 6:32 train to be there by 7:10 I have an exhibits only pass, but i want to watch the keynote in one of the overflow rooms... I can do that right?

I'll be wearing shorts, and a tee-shirt with a button-down shirt over that, depending on how hot it is...

now for the grand opening, I will only try and get a t-shirt if I can sleep in the city... If i cant, i'll make my way there, but probably later in the day... the real question is, who is going to see the feature presesntation?

I'll also be taking my poor brother with me, so say hi if you see us (his name is frank)

I don't believe so. Generally, they are for the people that show up so late for the keynote line that they don't get in to the main hall. Plus, this year there is 'reserved keynote seating'. This has never been offered before, so look for less keynote seating then ever.

Oh well, I plan on being near the front of the line. Last year, applenut + family was the only group ahead of me.

The keynote is broadcast via QuickTime or satellite 'free' (you have to have an ISP to go online. )

The keynote in person (like I'm doing), is not free.

You can still see the Keynote at MacWorld for free, just not in person. Every year they've had a large room with big projection screens showing the Keynote. All you need is an exhibits badge (the cheapest one) to get in. You don't get any of the freebies but its still cool to see it at MacWorld.

There's also the Apple offices in the Citicorp building. (I think its citicorp). They show the keynote for free too but you have to register way ahead of time because it fills up quickly.

I'm going to the Keynote as usual in the Apple Reston facility. They also have a Satellite feed. Considering Reston is near DC, I don't believe I'll be going to SOHO.

Dang it you guys! Why won't you actually go to Macworld or the keynote? There used to be TONS of AI members who would go! I know MWSF let a lot of people down but this is Macworld we're talking about!

Oh well, I guess I'll hang out in line without other AI members.

Because its not worth the 200 bucks, or whatever the cheapest package is that includes the keynote. The only time I got to see it in person was when my company paid for me to go to some of the workshops. It included keynote access. That was the year they gave out the free optical mice.

If you can't go to the workshops, its not worth the price just for the keynote. Especially lately

    I'

m dissapointed in our NYC area members. where is the enthusiam? I am dieing to go but flying out for 3 days and then back makes no sense.

My brother and mother will be at both the Keynote Address and the SOHO grand opening. Probably will camp out for both as usual.

I'll most likely be at the Palo Alto store so I'll see you guys online via airport or something.
