Put the Digital Crown right below the Sleep button on iPhone and it will be good for both hand use: left index or right thumb. Set the pace and Samsung will copy it.
I like to be able to zoom things in and out with one hand use. This is a killing feature imo.

I certainly don't hate it!  I'm talking about how I don't think it will be around forever... but that doesn't mean I don't like it!

It's super smooth... and was definitely a good idea to get our fingers off the screen.  I agree that it makes the watch look better (looks more like a watch) and I actually like having something physical to manipulate.... helps to keep the watch "grounded" somehow.

All that said: I still don't think it will be around forever.  The click-wheel showed us what happens to physical scrolling capabilities on Apple stuff.  See also: the mouse scroll-ball...

Apple don't design like that on iPhone. Have you lost confidence in Jony Ive?

Aaah??? How did you come to that conclusion? Is my English that broken? I have faith in Ive and his work. The ?Watch is great and so is the iPhone. The iPhone and the ?Watch are two very different things they can not be design the same.

Correct. It's just evolution. One day we may have a crownless ?Watch

A watch crown is the last thing I would borrow from the industry. Pinching those tiny wheels and cranking them was always tedious for me.
I haven't tried an ?Watch yet so hopefully it functions better than I imagine.

It does function easier than you imagine.

What I find intriguing is how simple the digital crown is constructed inside the Apple Watch. The mechanical design is a wonder of simplicity. With the patented digital crown and force touch folded into an iPhone or iPad Apple will move the desire for those features to where the "me too" manufacturers will be left further and further behind in Apple's dust.

Whatever allure the MS Surface has currently will lessen as it appears to be less and less current technology -- Apple keeps the stakes moving forward so fast that MS seems almost retro in their latest designs...

Was sad only one thing was mentioned in the article.
We know force touch will come - and there are a lot of options apple could do.

What about other UI enhancements that might come from the watch.

Could the launchpad be redesigned to look more like the spring board?
What notification enhancements could be brought over to the iPhone.
Is there a tactic use on the phone.

Lots more you could have explored.

Edit: just saw its part of a series. Perhaps more later.

I was actually thinking about the Launcher the other day for iOS and wondering how it would be with the new launcher from the watchb(with the round icons, etc). I think it would actually be pretty cool and pretty nice to use on a bigger screen. I doubt they'll do it though... it's one thing that really makes the watch special right now.

The crown is actually really nice.  Scrolls really smoothly... and like another poster said you don't need to pinch it at all... just roll your finger across it.  You get used to it pretty quickly.

I will say though: I've already had to rinse out my digital crown a couple of times.  Yes... RINSE... with water!  This is actually what Apple tells you to do: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204639

The crown gets gunk behind it (sweat, dust, etc.) and starts to not feel "smooth" and kinda "sticks" after it's left for a while... so you have to rinse it out.  I can tell you that it's a little unnerving to put a $600 piece of electronics under running water!

A non-mechanical way to scroll using the side of the watch would completely eliminate that... and possibly make the watch more waterproof (one less way for water to get in).

    Interesting.
